Appearance
Yuuzora is a young girl of about 5 feet 6 inches tall. Her weight is a secret, but she is clearly a slightly thinner than normal girl. On the outside she looks fragile, but in reality, Yuuzora is in great physical shape. Her skin is a pristine white, rarely touched by the sun. Her bust is humble; it is visible but not anything to brag about. Yuuzora's eyes are a strange shade of blue; their color can't be pinned down in words, but the closest description would be reminiscent of the day turning to night. The bangs of her coal black hair drapes around her face like a frame; the top is a fine straight cut with the side bangs just as neat, tapering off at the bottom. This part of her hair is actually straightened through styling, while being naturally curly, as evidenced by the back. The overall appearance is akin to the cut of a gothic lolita.
Her dresses often consist of handmade blouses, a plethora of ribbons, and the occasional array of belts; she is never seen in a skirt or dress that flows past her thighs. Instead, Yuuzora loves to wear tight fitting pants made from a delicate cloth. These range in various shades of black and other dark hues. Yuuzora loves this kind of clothing as it suits her persona nicely. Unfortunately she is usually made to wear the standard school uniform while in class, but she takes a few liberties with it. Her most recognizable features are often the any of the petite elegant umbrellas within her collection. These parasols, which serve to protect her from the elements (especially the sun), range from European to Asian styles, and are usually dark in color. Within the handle of these instruments would be where Yuuzora would store Seele Schneiders. She also carries around any number of small black purses to hold her Ginto.
Yuuzora often sports a soft look on her face. She doesn't wear a lot of makeup for a girl who dresses so elaborately, but she does sport the occasional lipstick; usually this is a darker shade. Her finger and toenails are often painted to coordinate with the rest of her garb. Her wrists are most often uncovered. They are scarred, but Yuuzora has no qualms with them being seen.
Initially, Yuuzora wears a small silver bracelet with a black cross attached to it. The bow she generates is shaped like a sleek and graceful killing machine, with sharp corners and tapering to a point at each end. The arrows produced quiver every couple of seconds, appearing to be somewhat unstable. The most striking feature of her bows and arrows are their jet black coloring; unlike the normal Quincy bow, they seem to resemble an absence of light.
Personality
Yuuzora is a rather open girl. She readily greets friends with a kind smile and warm hands, and she enjoys all of the things a healthy young girl is expected to. She spends most of her time with other girls, and isn't the least bit shy. Still, she is not without her shortcomings. Yuuzora doesn't eat a whole lot as she is very self-conscious about her weight; consequently, she is underweight. She is an open homosexual, but this is more the result of an aversion to men than it is a biological preference. She grows attached to her closest friends, treating them like mother figures when not romancing them.
Though her wrists are scarred, Yuuzora does not practice self-abuse in any form. Rather, they are old reminders from her past that she can never get rid of, so she doesn't bother hiding them. They bring her no feelings of shame, though they often give people she meets the wrong impression. Yuuzora tries hard to overcome these initial feelings that people have about her; she knows what she looks like and she doesn't want to give potential friends the wrong idea. If only said friends knew what they were really getting into.
Yuuzora, while kind and sweet, is arguably a sociopath. She is totally remorseless when it comes to taking life, though her social setting usually doesn't provide the opportunity or necessity. Even so, if someone gets between her and someone she loves, god forbid in a romantic way, Yuuzora will not hesitate to remove said obstacle. She does not always do so violently - generally she gives fair warning - but she will eventually resort to such measures if need be. Perhaps the most unsettling quality of this behavior is that she does it all without batting an eye or changing her tone; Yuuzora sincerely and sweetly threatens painful gutting to her obstacles.
History
Suzumebachi Yuuzora was born to gruff man and his meek wife in the small village of Hitori in the mountains of Japan. There, a young sect of Quincies made their home; they lived away from society so as to keep their spiritual power from endangering others. Though they could handle any Hollow that came their way, this sect of Quincies preferred not to engage in combat with them if it was at all avoidable. They practiced and honed their abilities purely for self-defense and healing; vanquishing a Hollow was a last resort for them. Destroying a soul was a tragedy their kind mourned more than any other. What greater sorrow was there than to be erased from existence permanently?
It was in this village, and by these values that Yuuzora was raised. She was named for the sky under which she was born, though it was not out of love. The poor child was seen as a curse to the man who fathered her. Tetsuo was a drifter who was adopted into the family who fell in love with the daughter of their leader. Though he met with disapproval at first, her father reluctantly allowed them to marry. Things were great in his eyes, until Yuuzora was born. To him, her entry into the world heralded the end of his halcyon days; much like the day turning to night. And so was the truth behind her name.
Her father was truly a harsh man. Though he trained her as mandated by the sect, Tetsuo was negligent and only showed her enough to keep the other villagers from becoming suspicious. When no one was watching, the abusive man would take her arms and slice her wrists with any sharp object that he could find lying around. Though he was aware it was hard to kill her in that way, he thought it the most certain method to eventually weaken her resolve enough for her to just die. It would be written off as a suicide and he could go back to his happy childless days with his wife.
And then the Hollows came. Yuuzora didn't remember much of the incident. All she knew was that she would never see her mother again. Only she and her father survived the attack; on that day they had been far away from the village on a training exercise. Accompanying them was a Quincy from the nearest sect who dwelled in the city. When he escorted them back to find the village annihilated, he kindly took the two in. One again, Tetsuo resented his child. More wrist slashings followed.
Now living in the suburbs of Obuna, Yuuzora and her father were taken care of by the local Quincy. The girl was old enough now to understand how wrong her actions were, but she feared that telling the others would result in her demise. She soon found comfort in the arms of an older girl who was also training in the Quincy ways. This particular sect did not require descendants to be trained in the arts, and her father took swift advantage of this, refusing her any further instruction. Instead, Yuuzora found lessons in the older girl who taught her much more of the basics and even some of the advanced techniques. For the first time, she was truly happy; she found herself falling in love with her new friend, though she couldn't bring herself to say anything.
Soon enough her father found out about these lessons. It was a quiet day in the woods surrounding Obuna that everything went down. Tetsuo had found Yuuzora's diary, and read about the girl she had apparently become romantically attracted to. This infuriated him! The thought that his abominable daughter, who was already a curse in his eyes, could bring any further shame upon him was unacceptable. Searching for the two with their spirit threads, Tetsuo came upon the forest where they were relaxing. Yuuzora had her head in the older girl's lap and was sound asleep.
When she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was her beloved's beaten and bruised body. She was still alive, but her dress was stained with blood, and her cheeks with tears. Her eyes shifted upwards. There stood her father, Tetsuo, holding the girl's hand, dragging a small knife across her wrist. Yuuzora snapped. In an uncontrolled fury, she gathered reishi to her cross, and let loose an arrow as swiftly as she could. The condensed particles forced their way through Tetsuo's body before he had time to react. His heart had been burned through. He looked on in shock at his enraged daughter's eyes. No words could leave his mouth as his dying breath escaped him.
Yuuzora ran. She ran and then kept on running. Even when she could barely stand, she trudged forward. She passed out in front of a decrepit shack deep in the forest. When she came to, Yuuzora was in a warm bed. She had been taken in by a very old man. His name was Alfonse.
Alfonse, as Yuuzora learned, belonged to very ancient sect of Quincy. He had come to Japan in his youth to escape the horrors of Europe. His people were being hunted down, and for a good reason; they were known as Dark Quincy. Their kind had strayed from the path that most of the order had established to protect the weak. Dark Quincy actively sought to destroy Hollows wherever they were found. Not only that, but they regularly practiced on other humans. Hollows were common enough, but the Dark Quincy hungered for power to the extent that they felt the need to train all day long, even when the monsters were not present. Stationary targets or animals just did not suffice. They were driven to near extinction a long time ago, but a small number had survived and escaped to Japan. Alfonse was the last of them.
He began to finish Yuuzora's training. Though hunting humans actively created too much suspicion, the girl had already completed the prerequisite for a very different kind of training; taking a life. It was not the first time she ever would either. Anytime unsuspecting travelers wandered too close to the old structure, or whenever there were lost pluses deep in the woods, Yuuzora took aim. In time, the shining blue of her bow and arrows began to dim, until eventually it turned jet black. Her reiatsu, tainted by the slaughter of innocent souls, colored her Quincy powers and forever changed them.
Alfonse eventually died of old age, but he did leave behind his life's work; a preserved collection of all of the Dark Quincy arts. Along with a few artifacts and instructions on where to find more, he left behind his legacy for Yuuzora in hopes that she would continue the line. Though shunned by society for his actions, the man was truly the only one of the gender she would ever respect. Yuuzora would even go so far as to call him the only father she ever had.
Many years later, Yuuzora was living in Okumichi City. Though she kept her skills up to date every now and then, taking trips every summer to the wilderness and other remote locations to conduct her training, the growing woman was living much like a normal girl her age. She attended a high school near the small, one-room apartment where she lived alone. Within she keep a small locked safe where the legacy of the Dark Quincy was preserved.
Combat
Strengths
May Contain Evil - Yuuzora's Quincy powers are used unlike that of the others in her order. She trains her bow on innocent people, and doesn't differentiate between human and Hollow targets; she is an equal opportunity exterminator.
Approach With Caution - Yuuzora is genuinely kind, readily making friends with almost anyone just as a chipper girl her age would be expected to. With the same smile, she readily cuts the throats of those who get in her way expected or not.
Athletic - Though appearing somewhat sickly, Yuuzora is actually quite the gymnast. She regularly keeps in top physical form, even if she is a little underweight.
Weaknesses
Alone in the Darkness - Yuuzora, though sweet by nature, is inherently a remorseless killer. Being an outcast of the Quincy order, she wouldn't have many natural allies.
Yandere - Yuuzora is absolutely axe crazy when it comes to love. Anyone who comes between her and a lover, even on accident, makes the top of her hit list. She loses most common sense when she feels that someone might be a potential love rival.
That Was a Warning Shot - She kills without remorse, but will generally at least give fair warning to people she is acquainted with before outright shooting them. Unfortunately, this leaves her open to retaliation.
