Appearance
Age 22, 6’0, 200 lbs| Yusuke is what appears to be a young athlete. His build is thin but he has visibly toned muscles that are hinted from his short sleeve outfit. The black top portion of the garb is sleeveless to show the normally white undershirt. The only difference is that the white shirt is Caribbean water blue. The sash at his waste is also the same color. His eyes share the same color as his clothes. He keeps his sword sheathed over his back with the hilt pointing up from his left shoulder. His hair is short and black with a bit of a random spike pattern depending on the way he dried it. He is Japanese but a bit of western American influence can be found from his past family generations.
Personality
Some people say he’s funny and others hate him for his sense of humor. He tries to be light hearted almost all of the time. He only breaks this character in times of true distress whether it is during a fight or when something bad happens. Yusuke likes to take each day as it comes, not thinking too much about the future. He works under the theory “live for today, because there may not be a tomorrow.”
History
The story of Yusuke is rather simple, if not a little sad. During his living years, he was alone. He had a job within Okumichi Marketplace and worked most of his days. Yusuke had moved out from under the control of his parents and he liked the life he lived. One evening after work on his way home, he met a girl about his age out on the streets. She seemed to be alone and afraid. Yusuke tried his best to get her to go home but she did not want to do so. She kept telling him that there was still something she had left to do in this world. Giving up, he decided to go home thinking she could take care of herself.
The next day he saw the same girl waiting around in the same spot. This time around he tried even harder to get her to go home. Yusuke tried to grab her hand to move her away but found it incorporeal. She was a ghost and he finally noticed the chain hanging from the center of her upper body. Unable to believe such a thing, he went to the police to try and get some answers. When he brought them to the place the girl was standing, they thought he was crazy. It became very apparent to Yusuke that he alone had been given the ability to see otherworldly beings. He was lucky it hadn’t been a few hundred years earlier for the police may have thought he was a warlock or something. Yusuke was not sure if the ability was a gift or a curse. It was a shame he would find out so soon...
Over the next week, Yusuke would find the girl at the same spot each night after work. He would talk with her and hear her stories about life. He noticed the chain was continually shrinking in length each day. Poor Yusuke figured it was the amount of time she had left before passing on. He was really starting to enjoy the conversations he had with the girl. It could be said he was attracted to the young women he now knew a lot about. Ayumi was the daughter of a baker and she had been murdered a few days before Yusuke met her on the same street they now stood. Yusuke found himself waiting for his shift to be over so he could go and spend time with her.
On the seventh day, Yusuke arrived at the spot to find something horrific. A giant beast stood in her place. It had a panther like body shape and a white bone mask. The shredded clothes of Ayumi lay in front of the beast. Yusuke took the scene the only way he could. He assumed that the beast ate his friend and it made Yusuke angry. He ran at the hollow with a cocked fist as if to punch it out cold. The hollow simply howled and pounced on the boy who was way out of his league. As the lights faded, Yusuke could make out the burly form of a black outfitted figure with what looked like a sword. “Ayumi,” was the last word he spoke alive.
He awoke in a place he couldn’t quite understand. It was as if he traveled back in time to the Edo period of Japan. The streets of Rukongai ran in four directions from the spot he arrived on. The next twenty years of his “life” were filled with hardship as he worked to survive the way of life here. It wasn’t until a particular meeting with a patrol of shinigami, that he found a way out. Through various methods of convincing and pleading, he tried to get them to help him out of this place. All attempts failed until he told them the story of his death. Every one of the shinigami knew what had truly happened. Ayumi had turned into the hollow and killed him just before a shinigami came in to purify him. Not one had the heart to tell him the truth. Instead they took him through the gates and into the academy.
Years in the academy taught his all about swordsmanship, kidō, hollow, and shinigami. He practiced for days on end until he was ability to pass the final exam. It was a vastly different life than he had expected, but the excitement of the job thrilled him. At graduation he was in need of a squad to join and something about the 3rd division called to him, so he enlisted.
Combat
Strengths
Yusuke is a power user when it comes to fighting. He prefers to use his zanpakutō in most cases, dabbles in kidō when it makes sense, and practices a Wing Tsun martial arts.
His zanpakutō when released is a melee type meaning it relies on his high strength.
He is loyal to the Gotei 13 meaning he can be trusted to complete any task given.
Weaknesses
Yusuke likes to avoid serious fighting as much as possible
Almost as if he should have been in the 11th division, Yusuke gets a little hot headed during battle which leads him to fight a little recklessly. This can result in damages to land, people and likely himself. Another drawback to that recklessness is that he tires himself out more often than needed.
His loyalty to the Gotei 13 could be used to manipulate his actions.
