Appearance
Yuki Manabe stands at a sharp five feet and two inches with a physique that looks subtle and lean. It really isn't. It is actually firm and sturdy, if you could believe it. Her overall look is that of a young adult, maybe venturing close to the appearance of a teenager. She doesn't really get offended when people notice that, but when she goes to the mortal realm in her gigai and tries to buy any alcohol of some sort, there is bound to be some one that is saying she cannot buy it because they think she is a teenager.
Yuki's hair is a dark brown and it ends down at her waist, contrasting greatly with her hazel eyes. Her skin isn't pale, but it isn't dark either. It's mostly in between, with a rosy tint to it. The shinigami garb Yuki wears, looks as if it is about two sizes to big. Probably because it is. She just figured she would grow into it. If not, it still felt like a snug fit. Around her waist, is a tied teal sash contrasting with the usual black and white of her uniform. On her feet are white tabi socks and the usual straw sandals of her uniform. Yuki's gigai consists of a sleeveless white shirt and a torn pair of dark blue jeans. She wears a pair of black and white sneakers. On cold days, she wears a dark blue hoodie that says 'God'. When Yuki bought it, she found it very funny.
Personality
Someone could say that Yuki Manabe has a split behavior. It is the majority of the time that she behaves gravely, almost livid. When this region of her persona is set off, whatever she is doing at that point in time, she desires to get it completed and as soon as possible. The other face of her character consists of being care free and just wanting to let the world be aware of her very existence. Yuki just wishes to let loose and have some amusement, even though it may possibly show the way to a catastrophe.
Also, there are times when she hangs around in between her solemn nature and her care free nature. At that time, she just wants to do naught. Just lay around someplace, thinking. Even though she may give the impression of being morose at times, she actually is not. It's not like at one moment she's all grim and staid while the next instant she would be negligent and in all probability quiescent. Yuki doesn't revolutionize frame of minds that effortlessly.
When in the authority of an elder, Yuki Manabe's voice lessens, as if she is mortified of something. As a matter of fact, she is not. It is just her temperament to get excessively wound up when she is in the presence of someone she looks up to. Of course, by ‘excessively wound up’, you most likely get the reflection of her bouncing up and down and going “Kya! Kya!” Sorry to mess it up for you, but she is not that kind of person. Instead, her voice’s pitch lowers and she looks downward at the floor and anyplace but her superior. Almost, as if she is too petrified to look them in the eye.
Being deceitful is one of Yuki’s most well known skills. She can lie to someone – even her superiors – without her voice breaking or being found out. Those with a razor-sharp eye should be capable of figuring out the catch though. When she lies, a flash seems to glimmer in her hazel orbs, basically from the exhilaration she reaps just from being double dealing.
History
Yuki Manabe was born in 1485 in Japan, or known as the Muromachi Period. Like almost every man, her father was a samurai who served directly under their lord. Her mother, was a geisha and never wanted Yuki to take the same path she did, even if it was decided. In the year 1498, she was twelve years old and her family was short on money, so they reluctantly sold her. Her parents didn't want to, but it happened anyway.
The young girl was to become a geisha. She would work under a family that was practically insane. By insane, they always loved making people feel down and once they were down, they'd kick them. It was just fate that Yuki had landed with that cruel family. Three years later, the fifteen year old couldn't take it anymore. The teasing, the taunting, all of it. Everyone was sleeping and she wandered into the main room and dug around the man's possessions. There she found small, various blades of sorts. It took a lot of guts, but before morning came, she had sliced the weapon's cold steel through her most important vein.
The slums of the Rukongai was not a pleasant place to be. People wandering around looking for fights, but in Yuki's perspective, it was better than being a geisha for that wretched, sadistic family. She was taken in by a man named Kei Katsushika. He was nice, and when Yuki learned of the Shinigami Academy, he supported it, but said "Wait until you're a bit older, 'kay?"
She agreed and at least a year later, when she turned sixteen, he let her go to the academy. She eagerly thanked him. "Arigato, Kei-sama!" She said. Yuki prepared herself and entered the academy. She was in the class that seemed to know ahead of time what they were to be doing, so they excelled. She was only in there because for the last year, she's been studying what she had to do.
Four years later, at the somewhat legal age of nineteen, Yuki passed with flying colors. As she was placed as an officer of the Gotei Thirteen, captains analyzed her skills and she now remains a seated officer.
Combat
Strengths
- Composed - When in a fight, Yuki can be composed and not lose her cool, but with her being restless, that can change and make her a bit hyperactive.
- Agility - When finally deciding an attack, Yuki can be quick to bring it out and dodge other attacks.
Weaknesses
- Not So Quick-Minded - When fighting, Yuki can be a bit slow on deciding attacks.
- Not Squeamish, but... - Yuki isn't really all that squeamish but when she's about to finish off someone, she usually can't deal the final blow. Her reasons for this are unknown at the time.
