Appearance

Sui is a tall young (young by shinigami standards) man that stands at a nice height of six foot one. His skin is slightly pale, but not enough that anyone would assume him to spend a great deal of time inside. If anything, someone might think he just wears sun screen when outdoors. He has medium length light brown hair that almost seems red or maroon colored near its tips. He keeps the sides longer than the rest of his hair and allows it to fall down and frame his face. He has an intelligent, if somewhat sad, face.

Sui likes to keep his appearance somewhere in between obsessively neat and perfect, and casually loose. It is very strange the way he manages this, making sure that his clothes fit well, are placed perfectly, and everything is clean, and then quickly messing up several small things that no one but him would really notice. The end result looks like a person that likes to dress very professionally, but was just in a rush at the time. He usually places red paint under and to the sides of his eyes in a design he once saw on a painting of the divine being Amaterasu.

At his side is his zanpakutō, an average length sword with a dark blue hilt and sheath.

Personality

Sui's mind is an amalgam of thoughts over the past, present, and future, swirling around chaotically while following a loose pattern that can be defined as his train of thought. His thoughts dance around his head so swiftly that he often does not have the time or luxury to properly sort through them and carefully see each thought to its conclusion. He has learned to push back the less relevant thoughts for whatever is most pressing at the moment, as much as he dislikes having to do so.

His mind is amazingly fast, almost too fast. He has trouble thinking about everything at once and can take long pauses while speaking, sometimes not saying anything at all. This is especially true for subjects that he is passionate about, and thus has more opinions on. He learned at a young age that sometimes it is best to just give a short general answer, which he often does when he believes he will not have enough time to fully express his feelings over whatever is being discussed.

When he was younger people thought that he was slow, but as he got older his silence and complex attitude gave him more of a noble and refined presence. He is a very peacful young man with a love for music and the arts. He enjoys nature, and beauty, the little things in life. He has memories of his life on earth, flashes and dreams that leave him sad and at times crying, even though he doesn't understand why. He respects his superiors and will normally address others by their family name unless asked not to do so.

He personally prefers to be called by his family name as well. He doesn't so much mind if close friends call his Sui, but he really does like the name Amaguri better. Amaguri meaning sweet, and Sui meaning sour. When in combat he is surprisingly effecitent, pushing back his sea of thoughts and filtering them so that only those relevant to the situation may flood his mind. Because it annoys him to have to limit his mind, he is able to turn that small pet peeve into a quiet ferocity that is loosed upon his foes.

He doesn't like people who rush around all the time, and enjoys the company of others whenever they have the time to sit and relax with him. He is especially fond of the company of women, again assuming they are not in a rush. Sui is a surprisingly modest young man that does not think himself to be anything special (Though he does posses incredible talent with a brush and some paint), but he is always happy to offer a bit of encouragement and praise to others.

History

Amaguri, Sui... that is not this man's name. At least, it was not the name he was first born with. Instead the name he was given at birth was Amedeo Esclamare. He was born to a wealthy family in Greece, heir to the Esclamare fortune and everything that came with such a name. Even as a baby his mind seemed to work on a whole different level from what was seen as normal. It was unfortunate that at the time he was believed to be mentally slow and 'special' because of his slow response to the world.

In truth his mind was just too full of thoughts for him to decide what he should actually do. As a child he didn't really understand why he was treated differently from other children, especially when he had a greater understanding of his studies. At the age of seven his father was killed in a mysterious fashion, his body dismembered in his own home. The only witness was his child, who was believed to be mentally slow and thus not a reliable witness to what happened. The secret to this case was one brought from another world, another realm. A hollow.

A creature of great size with a strange mask. It sensed a strong Reiatsu and came looking for a meal. A young man in a black robe appeared soon after his father's death and struck the beast down with his blade. At the time all young Amedeo could think was, what a sad creature.... Amedeo could see both the shinigami and the hollow, but because he was slow to respond the shinigami didn't notice Amedeo trying to speak up in the corner of the room. Amedeo's mother trusted the family affairs to Amedeo's uncle.

The uncle took control of the fortune and kicked young Amedeo and his mother into the streets. His mother found work and supported her child the best she could. It wasn't until he was eleven that his true intelligence began to show. At a free art showing he displayed not only an interest, but unique insight in the paintings displayed. It was decided soon after that he was a misunderstood genius and arrangements were made for him to attend a school for the artistically gifted. Amedeo agreed with the understanding that he would stay at the school.

As long as he lived at the school his mother would no longer have to struggle to feed the both of them. When he was sixteen he was stabbed to death in a dark alley. His soul was taken away to the Soul Society. The more time he spent in this world, the harder it became to remember anything about his old life. He was alone again, once more isolated because of how hard it was to speak with others. He forgot his name, and around the same time was taken in by a family. He learned that none of them were actually related but instead took care of each other.

In this family he had an older brother, Ryoukumo, who decided to name him Sui when he thought that 'Sui' wouldn't talk because of his 'sour' personality. It didn't take long for the family to understand that he just had trouble talking but was still very intelligent and kind. Because of this the family gave him the new last name of 'Amaguri', or 'sweet'. He would occasionally pass out or become very hungry. The family couldn't explain this, until they heard a rumor that being near people with high spiritual pressure could cause this in others who also shared a noticeable amount of Reiatsu.

The family showed Sui to the shinigami in hopes of giving him a better life and he was found to have the potential to join them. He attended an academy meant to train shinigami, and passed through with minimal difficulty. At first fighting was very hard for him, until on of his instructors taught him how to 'quiet' his mind and push out all the irrelevant thoughts swirling in his head. After learning this trick through careful meditation Sui found the rest of his classes rather enjoyable.

Combat

Strengths

Sui is able to both taken the whole of any given situation and limit his focus to the important details of it. He is efficient and conservative with his attacks in combat, trying to cause a great deal of damage with a few well placed strikes. He is calm, collected, and fair strategist. He isn't easily distracted and can often identify things like what the biggest threat is, what has higher priority given a situation, or what the fastest method for something would be. He is an all around type of fighter, one that is not a master of any one art, but capable of dealing with a multitude of circumstances.

Weaknesses

Sui has a naturally peaceful nature, and no matter how violent or fierce he may act during a fight, he will still often display acts of mercy and forgiveness. If he does lose his focus for a moment in a fight, it can often lead to long pauses in his actions and a drastic decrease in his response time until he can regain his focus. He doesn't like to see others hurt and will often try and take on all the burdens of a fight or encounter to spare others any pain or inconvenience. He is something of a 'bleeding heart', this trait could be used against him by a someone cunning enough to exploit it.
