Appearance

Sin Títul Ruta

Sin stands a level six feet tall, with deathly pale skin and tense flesh that is almost stonily tough to the touch. His face is lightly stubbled and topped by a head of short black hair, though this is rarely seen due to the sugegasa that he wears. As with most arrancar, Sin's method of dress is quite uniform. A pure white hakama and dark, silk-lined shoes accounts for his lower half. A black obi wraps around his waist and tucked into that a white, sleeveless kosode covered by a long and high-collared white jacket in the typical arrancar style.

The mask fragment which all arrancar bear is worn by Sin over his eyes, a single white plate that was once the forehead of his hollow mask that renders him blind. The remainder of his former self resides within the katana tucked in his obi, part of a daisho pair consisting of that and a wakizashi. Sin leans towards the wakizashi in combat rather than his katana.

Personality

Pride is among the deadliest of sins, and it is of this that Sin Ruta is most guilty. Where once in his hollow form he was a self-loathing creature, he is now quite satisfied with his lot in life - so much so that he pities all other creatures for their pathetic, scurrying lives. In his mind, any success could not be achieved without his participation, and he is always quick to blame a failure on the actions of others. Sin's pride is so great that he refuses to accept assistance from others (though he would still blame failure on others) to the point that he will even attack those attempting to come to his aid in order to keep them away. This refusal of aid does not work in reverse, Sin will gladly lend his sword to a battle even if it's not wanted.

Sin is quite stubborn and often considers himself superior to those around him. He is the product of a long dead empire and, in his opinion, knowing such ancient secrets means that he has an intelligence that far surpasses those that have only recently been born. In conversation, however superior he considers himself, he is polite though sometimes belittling, being one to listen before speaking (if only so that he can prove to those imbeciles that surround him just how moronic they are) and also speaking sparingly.

When this war is done and the arrancar are rulers of the three worlds he will likely vanish. Though he might be superior to those around him, Sin is little more than a soldier at heart, and when there is no fighting to be done he is unable to function. Once more he will live up to his name and wander without course.

History

The man that became Sin Ruta was a pathetic creature. A slave, taken from his parents to the court of a Phonecian noble, he knew nothing but servitude throughout his life. The child that babe had grown into was attractive, enough so to be paraded about like some prize and always carrying a plate of fruit for his master to indulge upon. He was cast away abruptly when he hit puberty, sold to work as a labourer to some far off baron in the east.

The hard work broke the boy, he was beaten and worse, but through it all he strove to be his best. Even if it was only to stave off the beatings that came to him when he failed. Ultimately, however, the weakling died, his bones worn and broken by the endless toil his masters put him through. With the death of that useless creature Sin Ruta was born. His masters, not wanting to trouble themselves with the effort of digging a grave instead cremated the wretch. The soul that lingered after the body had expired roamed far from its final resting place, though being little more than an idiot slave he had no destination nor goals in his afterlife.

Slowly the spirit learned language, picked up from years of passing through the settlements of the living. With those words came more concentrated thoughts, and with those thoughts came anguish, soon he realised what a pathetic being he had been in life. The self-loathing overcame the creature, the dull chain that hung from his chest rapidly began to consume itself. When the chest was penetrated and a cruel beak grew over the pretty features of the dead slave, all that learning was eclipsed, banished by the darkness of instinct and hunger.

The hollow, known as Kraxopos to those poor unfortunates that could see it, retained much of the habits that it had done in the previous stage of its afterlife. Lingering where the living dwelled it fed off the recently deceased, when the spirits were not only at their freshest but their most confused. In this manner Kraxopos survived, flitting from village to village and town to town as it pleased and always evading the watchful eye of the Shinigami.

Soon a reputation grew around the birdlike hollow that plucked the dead straight from their final breaths, the number of soul reapers hunting for Kraxopos grew dramatically. Before long there was a black robed soldier within every village, and not even the jet black wings of the great crow could allow it to remain both safe and sated. The creature fled to Hueco Mundo, feeding upon lesser hollows for the most part and only treading in the world of the living when it's eternal hunger grew so painful that nothing but a still human soul would sate.

By this habit Kraxopos existed for more than a century, slowly gathering enough spirits in his belly to ascend to the form of menos grande. The veil of ignorance was once more cast over the hollow's mind as he transformed into a gillian, it was only as he passed through the stages of adjuchas and vasto lorde that his intelligence was returned once more. He lived for nothing but to survive, consuming spirits when he became hungry and killing those foolish shinigami that considered themselves worthy of challenging his might. Suffice to say the lofty mind that was now no longer at threat of being obscured suffered from an overwhelming boredom.

Kraxopos despised what he had become. At least in the ignorance of his lesser forms he had been able to forget all that he knew, never to be 'blessed' with such a crippling hatred of his basic lifestyle. Everywhere he travelled the spirits knew his name and fled, the dark bird that would rob you of your existence the moment it sunk it's razor claws into your hide. Nothing could sate his mind as the spirits did his hunger. And so the vasto lorde, in a fit of self-loathing, cast his name and mask away. Perhaps with this new form and the lack of any name to go by he would be able to occupy himself better.

The arrancar wandered across the sands of Hueco Mundo without reason, searching for that activity that he so craved. He picked up a new name during these wanderings, though it was only spoken in whispers, for the blind man made no friends in his single-minded journey for enlightenment. Sin Ruta (as they called him) happened upon the ruins of a settlement engulfed by a great and constant battle that seemed ignorant of him and his reputation. Perhaps here, in this city of the night, he would find his calling. Sin, through his blade and his wit, soon came to learn the details of the civil war these arrancar fought in, and he soon aligned himself with the warrior prince known as Yevele, acting as the man's right hand.

Under Sin, the forces of Yevele crushed all opposition and forced the survivors to their knees, and under Yevele the ruins of Las Noches were rebuilt and fortified. It took nothing more than three years to restore the city to more than its former glory, though of course Sin knew nor cared on this matter. He was simply proud to have found a calling in his otherwise monotonous life, a place where his ferocity did not force all those little creatures that could not face him to flee.

Yevele had aspiration, a vision that would ensure Sin's boredom would not return for many centuries. In declaring war on Seireitei the arrancar empire went far beyond their borders, were it not for Sin and the other six espada the hollow forces would have faltered at their very first step into Soul Society. By the virtue of strong leadership the arrancar hammered the shinigami into submission, locked within their citadel they watched as the surrounding villages burned.

The war could have ended then with Seireitei razed, but the Emperor foolishly sought to enslave the soldiers of the Gotei 13. With a traitor amongst the shinigami ranks their secrets were revealed to the arrancar, and in exchange that treacherous creature was welcomed into the ranks of La Imperio del Hueco. Sin hated Kuseki Sedris and his comrades, their information was valuable true, but any kind of traitor was scum in the mind of the primera espada.

On Sedris' information the arrancar forces stormed seireitei, breaching its defences with ease, but the one condition that the 'Traitor King' held was that he would lead the assault and the espada remain stationed in Las Noches. It was a fortunate move, even if Kuseki had not anticipated it, for the flaming bird of seireitei was unleashed upon those that attacked the citadel. Had it not been for those conditions Sin Ruta would have died that day.

Nevertheless, the failed strike into the heart of soul society was a turning point in the war. A decade later the shinigami mounted a similar attack of their own, using the power of that fiery bird to break open the gates of Las Noches and massacre all those inside. To protect the honour of the empire, Yevele nobly sacrificed his life and was buried deep in the desert. His tomb hid away the secrets and treasures of the empire, and his seven espada sealed themselves away within stone shells, prepared to protect the empire when the heir to Yevele's legacy took up his crown.

For more than a millennium Sin rested undisturbed. He slept a dreamless sleep whilst all around him Las Noches (and his allies) crumbled. Falling masonry destroyed the statues in which his fellow espadas' bodies had been sealed away. When the emperor's tomb was finally disturbed and Sin Ruta awoken he found himself the last of the espada in a new empire. They had no emperor, he soon discovered, ruled instead by their primera espada, a regent until the true emperor ascended the throne.

Regency or not, only when the heirs to the empire were ready for Las Noches' secrets would they enter the tomb of Yevele. Sin had slept for more than two and a half thousand years in order to guide this new empire to greatness, why should he not take the chance to exact his revenge upon Seireitei for the sacking of Las Noches? To this end Sin did indeed unveil the ways of the old empire, but only to the extent that they learned those methods of warfare that would ensure their victory against the Gotei 13…

Combat

Strengths

Blind Seer - Because Sin is blind, his other senses (most notably those of sound, touch and pesquisa) have been heightened. He is able to pinpoint an enemy's location based on their reiatsu signature, and correctly act upon nearby attacks by tracking the sounds and the changes in air pressure near him.

Murder of Crows - If Sin finds his allies in need of his help he will always pitch in to help them (unless of course he has bigger fish to fry), this strength in numbers will often tip the battle in the favour of the blind arrancar and his comrades - though as always the victory will be down to his actions and little else.

Weaknesses

A Crow Left of the Murder - Sin is independent, often violently so. If he has chosen to fight an opponent then he will never accept aid from anyone, and if an ally does decide to throw their sword into the fray Sin will go to extreme lengths to remove them from it - even killing them if need be.

Don't Tell Me What I Can't Do - Going hand in hand with his pride and independence, Sin will rarely see the plans of others as viable if he has an idea himself. As a result, even if the majority are in agreement on a certain matter he will remove himself from the equation and carry out his own strategy, even if it proves damaging to those of his allies.

The One-Eyed Man is King - Sin is blind, he can accommodate for this using his senses of hearing, pesquisa and touch but when an attack is thrown his way that cannot be felt, heard or sensed spirituall, then he is absolutely unable to defend.
