Spirit Description
The spirit of Shiroihebi takes the form of an beautiful and elegant middle aged woman. Shiroihebi sports a mane of very long black hair that reaches down to just below her waist and skin so pale it is white. Her slightly sunken eyes are a deep violet and seem to be slit like those of a reptile. She dresses in a simple white iromuji kimono with a much more formal uchikake worn over it. The uchikake is similarly white but has a faint pattern of shining scales embroidered all over it. As she moves the trail of her dress pools and trails around her usually hiding her bare feet giving her the illusion that she is gliding across the ground. At will Shiroihebi can shift from this form to that of a large white serpent, something she does only when angered or when trying to impress something upon Notonay.
Shiroihebi holds herself in very high regards and demands to be treated with the utmost respect, refusing co-operate unless Notonay complies. In a manner that clashes directly with her appearance and with how she demands to be treated, she herself tends to act in a very rude and arrogant fashion often stooping to insulting and yelling if she doesn’t get her way. At the worst she treats Notonay as her servant and at the very least she teases him and acts snarkily. She also tends to be slightly aggressive often urging Notonay to either fight when he would prefer to avoid conflict or to finish off an enemy he would otherwise spare. All in all she has come to be the voice in his head similar to a conscience, only this voice tends to urge him to do the ‘wrong’ thing rather the ‘right’.
Shikai
Release Command: Hodokeru! Shiroihebi! (Uncoil! Shiroihebi!)
Shiroihebi begins to glow white and begins to writhe and twist as it lengthens to about eight feet. Eventually it stops glowing and its movement ceases revealing itself to be a ling yari type weapon. The shaft is around six foot in length and coloured a faded black. Carved into the shaft and inlaid with bright silver is the carving of a serpent that reaches from the pommel to the hilt of the blade coiling around the shaft. The head of the serpent sits just below the hilt of the blade and with its jaws opened, as if about to strike.
Shikai Abilities
Hiss! Shiroihebi!
When Notonay runs his hand down the shaft of the weapon and whispers the command the blade begins to secrete a purplish substance. This substance is a type of corrosive acid that ‘eats’ reishi and reiatsu. Although it acts like a mundane strong acid on normal substances its most significant ability is that it dissolves reishi and reiatsu. Because of this the blade of the weapon starts to hiss as the acid eats away at surrounding spirit particles. As Notonay strikes an enemy the acid sticks to any wounds that the he inflicts, eating away at their spirit power. This is of course much more effective on those with smaller spiritual reserves. At the same time however the acid tends to be less effective on the living as it is on souls and hollows. Also an interesting note is that the blade will start to hiss louder and sometimes even smoke in environments abundant with reishi or when someone is leaking a large amount of reiatsu. Dance! Shiroihebi!
By twirling the weapon around his body the wielder causes it to release a thick purple mist, with both a coppery taste and smell, that spreads out across the battlefield. More so than the acid of the hiss ability, the mist eats away at a much faster rate at surrounding spirit particles, however it does not affect a persons reiatsu as greatly. Once the dance is stopped the mist begins to fade away and the longer the dance is stopped the faster the mist dissipates, though he can restart the dance as long as the mist remains. The only one immune to its effect are those under Shiroihebi’s favour, even Notonay will sometimes be at the mists mercy if he happens to be on her bad side. Dismissed by the command: Cease!
Strengths
Long weapon – As long as he keeps his enemy at a distance he will usually hold an advantage over his enemy, as he keeps himself out of harms way while striking at them at the same time.
Acid – The longer something is exposed to the acid the more it ‘eats’ away. An enemy with an acid covered wound will continue to suffer under its effects until the acid is removed. Reiatsu would be slowly eaten away and reishi would be harder to draw as long as the acid remained. It also allows the blade to better cut or pierce through barriers that are backed by spiritual power.
Mist – Within the mist reiatsu and reishi based powers would be weaker than usual, having its power drained from the user as well as when the power is manifested. The mist also gives a form of cover making it harder for someone to pick Notonay by sight or smell.
Weaknesses
Long weapon – Shiroihebi is a pole weapon and as such is at a disadvantage if an enemy happens to get in to close for it to be able to counter effectively.
Disagreeable - Shiroihebi is moody, arrogant and self important as such Notonay needs to be careful to stay on her good side or otherwise head into battle with a weapon that works against him and with him.
Consuming – In order to maintain and increase the size of the mist that is created by the shikais second ability Notonay needs to expend a fair amount of reiatsu himself, which prevents him from being able to hold the ability for any length of time.
One at a time – Shiroihebi can only manifest one of its abilities at a time. Therefore he cannot summon the mist and then suddenly strike with an acid tipped spear. He must first dismiss the ability and then separately activate the other.
