Personality
Ri is a funny guy he like to be the center of attention and does this by usually trying to make jokes and by trying to the best at everything though he rarely succeeds at either. He is a nice guy at heart but since his fifth year in the academy he's been rather full of himself and far too confident for his own good. He doesn't show much respect for his instructors in fact he doesn't show any at all, since his cocky streak began he's felt like he's learned all they have to teach him which only show how much of a fool he is.
As a friend Ri is a honest and loyal but never seems to know when to quit or when just to hold his tongue ,as they say the road to hell is paved with good intention's. In battle his attitude usually begins calm but he has a hard time keeping it that way and will often breaking into burst of anger.
History
Ri was born in the 19th century in the Irish midlands to two peasant farmers. As a human Ri was a waste in nearly every sense of the word. At a young age he left his home to join the rebel Irish forces, though he didn't fight for the right reason. After the rebellion had been put down Ri became a drunk who never really slept just passed out on his way to the next pub. He turn to stealing to make money and became notorious in the city as a thief and swindler. His only redeeming act was in the final moments of his life.
He'd woken up on a street outside a pub by screams of pure horror. Stumbling to his feet he saw the sky filled smoke. He followed the smoke to a family home in Rathmine and found it in a blaze of flames. The mother of the house was screaming in terror and the father was being restrained by soldiers who seem far too happy under the circumstances. The father cried for the soldiers to let him go and mother , gone into hysterics called for her daughter.
A Childish cry came from the house and on instinct Ri ran. He shoulder the door down and ran into the house. The smoke was thick as he climbed the stairs and the heat felt like the flames of hell just waiting for him. Reaching the top of the stairs he kicked in the first door he came to only to find flames behind it. Hearing another cry from the child he kicked in a second door. Inside was a young girl no older then six surrounded by her own burning toys. In a feat of heroism or maybe just foolishness Ri sprinted through the flame toward the girl. He felt his skin begin to boil and the sole of his shoes begin to melt into her feet but there were more important things on his mind. Grabbing the child he didn't stop his sprint. He held the child close to his chest protecting her head and he threw himself out the third floor window. He made sure to lead with his back so glass didn't hurt the child and so when they landed Ri would take the impact.
His name was in the papers for the next week, as a brave hero who died saving a little girl. Ri didn't linger in the living world for long, when the Shinigami arrive Ri didn't ask any question he just passed on peacefully. Entering the soul society Ri started a new life one very different then the one he'd left behind.
He became a pillar of the community in the 56 district of south Rukongai. He kept peace for the most part making sure everyone was safe and he did his job well ,in all his time he never once failed to protect the community. He was there for twenty years and had become well know and like in Rukongai, he was a regular in nearly ever bar and more important know as a man of humor and kindness. But it was after these twenty years he felt he could be doing more for all of Rukongai and after a lengthy decision he applied for and eventually pass the entrance exams for the shinigmai Academy.
Entering into the academy was like starting a whole new life again. It was on the first day of the academy Ri for the first time saw his future wife and love of his life, Rose O'Hara. It didn't take Ri long to befriend her and after only a few week at the academy Ri had form a close circle of friends with him and Rose in the heart of it. Ri never hid his intentions from Rose and frequently asked her out but she always declined and had become a source of great humor for the group. It was Ri's friends that probably made him study as hard as he did, the group had a constant competition on who was better and Ri always liked to win.
Combat
Strengths
Tactical minded Ri is quite astute at identifying an opponents strengths and weakness and using them to form an effective strategy.
Ri's stamina is rather remarkable, he demonstrated on numerous occasion the ability to fight from extended periods of time with faltering due to fatigue.
Ri is determined as they come, once his mind is set very few things will stop him for getting what he wants or more likely who he wants.
Weaknesses
Ri's temper can be a great weakness in battle, his rage makes his clumsy and create opening in his attacks where none existed before.
Ri's confidence is also a weakness as it lead him to charge into battle without first thinking, leaving him to come up with a tactic in battle or lose.
