Nanashimaru

Nanashimaru (Nameless Blade) is Rikimaru Narusegawa's Zanpakutō.
Rikimaru’s zanpakutō, being unresponsive to voice or feeling as it is, is permanently held in its released state. It looks little more different than its sealed version, being just a long katana with a shirasaya-style handle that is all-black in color, when sheathed it perfectly blends with the scabbard to look like it‘s all one piece of equipment.

Spirit Description
Whatever spirit the blade contained, it no longer shows itself. Rikimaru thinks it is nothing more than a shadow of its former self, and those memories are forgotten.
Shikai
Release Command: The blade bears no release command.
Being similar in nature to Rikimaru’s sealed blade, there is little difference to the permanently released form other than the blade is slightly longer than your average katana. Other than that there is no indication that the blade is released.

Self Reaction
While it would seem that Rikimaru’s blade is constantly just a non-living tool, the blade automatically reacts to physical & solid projectile attacks without warning and positions itself to defend Rikimaru while its in his hands, allowing him to use his strength of body to fend them off depending on the force behind the attack. This is only effective in his immediate area, and if in the unlikely scenario that the blade is knocked loose from his hands, the blade will return to his hands like a boomerang. While in combat, this automatic defense makes it seem like Rikimaru is a true master of the sword, able to fend off multiple foes and cut through rapid sequences of projectiles.
He’s still susceptible to strikes at speeds beyond his own though.
Barrier Blade
The true ability of the blade is that it serves to protect Rikimaru, even though it doesn’t respond to him on a personal level. With Rikimaru’s resolve, it can ward off or deflect any energy-based attack (Kidō, Shikai, Fullbring, Quincy Bow, Cero, etc.) equal to Rikimaru’s base Zanjutsu skill.
Strengths
The blade provides Rikimaru with an advanced level of skill in Zanjutsu in regards to his defense.
The reactive defense to physical attacks and solid projectiles never wears off.
Weaknesses
Even if his blade doesn’t quit, Rikimaru’s stamina always has a limit.
The defense against energy-based attacks is finite; the blade can break if put under too much pressure to defend beyond its limit.
