Appearance
At first glance, in the commonplace, one might think of Misao as slightly off of her rocker, just by facial expression. Most people have something of a calmed, reserved look in their eyes when in public; Misao looks as though she's in the middle of disecting a living frog, and enjoying every second of it. All the time. Her black eyes are narrowed in that sense, giving her almost a feral, insane look. The fact that her smile is full of rather sharp-appearing teeth doesn't help much, either.
She wears a heavily modified version of the normal shinigami uniform that's been the subject of a bit of controversy with her as of late. He shihakusho is sleeveless, much like her sibling's, but it also is not tucked in under her kosode, and hangs loosely like a sleeveless robe. While still tied by her obi, because it's not tucked in, the front of her top is notably looser, revealing more of her bust than normal-- Don't be mistaken, though, because through the use of white tape, she wraps her chest and abdomen down anyway. No one really knows why, but it's well enough to be noted that instead of normal sandles, Misao's have cleats on the bottom of them... What joy. She lacks the more intense muscle tone that her brother has, but is still relatively 'tight' for a woman.
She's seen as roughly 20, if not slightly younger, by her peers at a glance. She shares her brother's platinum blond hair, though her is notably longer, reaching the middle of her back.
Personality
Misao can be seen as slightly irritable and sardonic, but she's generally an all-around okay person. Most people are scared off by her rather creepy looks; Others are attracted by her body, so it's hard for her to make any 'real' friends, but the ones she does have, she doesn't let go of. Ever. She can be seen as the 'janitor' of situations, sometimes; Particularly when around her sibling, but on normal occasions as well. She's not the best fighter, but just the same, she picks them a lot better than most people, and is known to kick a dog when it's down if it barked at her in the past.
Misao likes to insult people in a friendly manner; Usually stopping if it seems it'll escalate into something physical. She's also a fan of sweets, sours, tangy treats, and otherwise; Anything bland, in any way, disgusts her. She's prone to trying anything once; If she doesn't like it, then she'll never do it again.
History
The 12th District of Rukongai lies on the direct border that seperates the brigands of the higher numbered districts and the well-to-do souls of the lower numbered districts. It was here the Ichijin twins were born. Isao and Misao were considered a privilege by many, especially to Shinda Ichijin and Minami Torikawa. Little did they know that in the years to come they would be in Seireitei's scope for possessing a gratuitous amount of reiatsu compared to some of the other young ones.
The twins' growth encompassed "fun times", to say the least. Frequent attacks from brigands started to grow in numbers as they grew older, though none of them were really serious, a couple of looting runs here and there within the timeframe of 10 years or so. By a certain age, the twins had enough of the brigands and put on a bold demonstration at one point, where Misao barely took rein of her latent powers to daze some of the brigands, while Isao laid them unconscious. Some of the adults that still had guts threw them out after this.
Word slowly spread that time after time, the twins were fending off attacks from the brigand sector, something that declined in frequency each passing season. As they did so, their control over their reiatsu grew somewhat. It was enough for the two that they were able to defend their parents, at the very least, from the brigands.
Their first encounter with a full-fledged shinigami came with complimentary words, though it left the twins mystified and curious. The two put some effort into researching these black robed outsiders, and eventually found out they were "defenders" in their own right, with the ability to purify monsters called "hollow" from innocent people. It excited them, and wondered how to get in contact with one again.
Day turned to night, and night to day. Having fallen asleep with her head filled with aspiring dreams of becoming an official shinigami, and learning how to control her ever-growing powers. Of course, as day came, and Misao awoke, the world didn't seem as bright anymore; She'd somehow gone as far as to sleep through the entire series of unfortunate events involving her brother and parents, since Isao hadn't woken her up during it. Misao was the unfortunate child to find her parents murdered in cold blood, and her brother nowhere to be found; She was alone.
The girl did not cry. She was a bit too strong for that. Instead, she simply gathered a few things, and left her home, lighting it afire; A proper 'funeral' for her parents inside of it. She would go one to live alone for a while; As expected, thugs would pick fights with her, as she was just a little girl, someone they could prey on, but Misao's spirit had grown strong enough to fend for herself, at least against minor thugs. But it only lasted for so long. After barely escaping a life-threatening altercation that Misao could hardly deal with, she passed out in the midst of the streets of the 12th district.
She was eventually found and saved by a older woman who wore an all black outfit. She nursed Misao back to health, healing her wounds with magic-like powers. The girl had only been half-conscious during the healing, and could only wonder if this person who'd saved her was also a shinigami, like the one she'd met not too long ago. She never got the chance to find out, as the woman left her to rest after healing her. Misao was alone once more.
The only real choice the girl had was to move forward with her life. So from the 12th district, Misao bed goodbye to her old lifestyle, and began to move closer towards Seireitei. Along the way, she took on various jobs; Some less appealing than others, but no matter if it was cleaning floors or serving/cooking food, she did it without argument, and she did it well. Misao was a fast learner, and picked up many skills from point a to point b, that made her life progressively easier. Her talents were also noticed further as she worked; Alongside her naturally growing hunger.
By the time she reached the 2nd district of rukongai, seeing shinigami became a relatively daily thing. Thus, it was around this point that Misao also began to notice their presence as well; The closer they were to her, the heavier it became to breathe, at times. She came in contact soon with the wrong shinigami, who's strength was enough to make the spiritually blessed girl faint. While that seemed bad in itself, this caused the shinigami to realize her talents, and when she awoke, he expressed his apologies and went as far as to give the girl a formal invitation to the shinigami academy, within Seireitei; Misao's dream of a lifetime. The memory of her parents still burned in her mind, but with her entrance into the academy, it was stilled, if only slightly. There, she was reunited with her brother, Isao, and together, the two spent a number of years in the academy before ultimately graduating as official shinigami themselves. And life went back to 'normal', in a sense; Misao spends much of the day with her sibling, who's less-than-active attitude doesn't bother her as much as it might anyone else.
Combat
Strengths
- Misao is highly adaptable, having been a relatively fast learner since birth; Tricks and scams, in battle or not, don't usually work on her more than twice.
- She specializes in combining normally unassociated things together in battle, having been a jack of all trades in the academy. In addition to being capable of fighting at long and short range equally, there is little that she isn't capable of defending against.
- Misao learns by seeing the best; If someone shows her how to do something at least once, she'll almost always be able to figure it out herself.
Weaknesses
- Unlike Isao, she doesn't have a great tolerance for pain. She's not as big on fighting as he is, and therefore unable to deal with the threat of long-term encounters as well.
- Just by appearance, Misao is pretty scary, facially. Thus, she's not the best person to deal with negotiations, or delicate situations.
