Personality

Never feeling like she belonged with the quincy nor accepting the rules and regulations that the quincy follow, Matsuri estranged herself from her clan and pretty much everyone that she doesn't feel can advance her monetary goals. To her, the pride of the Quincy is dead and as such, their abilities should be used for wealth instead of fighting for those who cannot see hollows for themselves. The shinigami and those humans that developed spiritual powers of their own, their purpose and actions are of little concern to her. However, that does stop her from working with her quincy abilities from time to time since she does possess a larger than normal spiritual pressure than the average human. Besides money and success, Matsuri has a interest in firearms from their designs to firepower.

Don't take the cute face and think she's a sweetheart that likes stereotypical 'girly-girl' items. Sure, everyone likes to receive new stuff, but she's definitely not afraid to get dirty and would rather want to do it that way anyways. As an assassin for hire, Matsuri had to develop a cold, unnerving personality which she sees as being strong when it comes to her occupation. Speaking of her occupation, Matsuri usually keeps one or two firearms on her person at all times, even something as small as a derringer. And for someone that should know how to sense moving souls nearby, Matsuriu sually likes to keep her eyes focused on her surroundings.

History

A quincy is a quincy. From the day you're born till the day you die. As long as you possess the capabilities that a quincy needs in order to slay hollows, then you will follow those rules, right? Maybe as a naive child who thought that they were special because they could do things that others outside the clan do not. Things that you only read in the comics and Saturday morning cartoons, wishing that you possess those superpowers.

Like most quincies, Matsuri was the daughter of two bow-wielding hollow slayers, thus possessing the 'gift' of being able to see, hear, and sense spirits around her. Her bloodline also granted her the ability to gather the ambient reishi from her surroundings for various effects, the most basic of which was to create a bow and arrows to help her clan slay the skeletal mask wearing hollows. She doesn't remember the first time she has been able to summon her bow exactly, but it has become as natural as writing your name or tying your shoes.

To live the life of a quincy and still live in the modern world like every human being on the planet, the two lives seemed impossible to maintain as she got older and wiser about her heritage. All hollows were once some poorsoul that could not make it to Soul Society for one reason or another. How they spent their life determined where they went once they were saved by the sword of the shinigami. Either you were trapped in Hell for all eternity or you went to the world of the shinigami and became like them or who knows what. That didn't cut it for Matsuri. She had to live her life the way she wanted it, not what a group of people centuries ago passed on. The world was changing and you had to adapt to it. Live for the moment before that opportunity passed.

Matsuri, although possessing vast knowledge of her Quincy heritage and the abilities that her descendants possessed, basically slacked off on her quincy training, feeling that there was no need for her to pursue those gifts ifshe can't live the life that she wanted. The cars, the mansion, more cash than she would ever need and spending it frolicly. Between the time Matsuri entered and graduated from high school, her whole perspective on priorities changed, yet she could not tell anyone how she felt without knowing how they would deal with it and what consequences, if any, that she may receive. Duringthe summers in high school, Matsuri received permission to work and save her money so she could travel upon graduation.

Matsuri would decide to travel to the United States before heading back and attending college. She was eighteen, able to defend herself moreso than the average human, knew English, and was a penny-pincher, only spending her money when she absolutely needed it. She was wise not to trust certain people and acted mature enough to be treated like an adult; there was little concern from her parents on her decision to travel.

Matsuri made it to the United States, but she was there for more than snapping pictures and other tourist stereotypes. No, she was here for an opportunity. Matsuri was here to stay in New York permanently, which was the last message she would send to her parents before cutting off all ties with her life as a quincy. Sure, she got missed calls and letters for the first couple of months, but Matsuri ignored them all. It wasn't like she was completely hated her parents, but her parents were connected to the Quincy, which she did not want to get involved in. True, they could probably trace her if they truly wanted to, but they didn't. Her first job was as a secretary for a private investigator, taking calls and setting up appointments for him. She knew when and where he would be most of the day, so it didn't hurt if she followed him every now and then, just to see what kind of stuff he went through. Well, the day she found herself unemployed was the day she found her future occupation.

There was a case her boss was working that was pretty high or at least bigger than anything they ever dealt with. This involved a man who was targeted by a big crime family, but could not go to the police since he was once a part of their organization, which could easily place him in a worse position than he was now. After a few days on the assignment, the employer and the investigator were both shot, which Matsuri found out came from a sniper rifle. The clean shots and where the two men were shot made it easy for Matsuri to track down where that assassin was. Her boss did not know that she was following him, which also gave her a good chance of finding the sniper for herself as a way to assist from a distance.

Matsuri hurridly made it through the building, up the elevator and up the stairs for the remaining ten percent of the way to the rooftop where the sniper was getting ready to pack up his things. He spotted the girl and pushed his way passed her, seeing that she did not have a weapon on her, or at least one that he could see. He told her to forget what she saw up here for her own good, but that wasn't enough for her. Matsuri released her bow and shot a small arrow at his right leg. It was way too weak to blow his leg completely off, but it was enough to keep him from running for now. It was an interesting occupation and not too different from what she was trained for as a quincy. Matsuri asked the questions, yet he was providing little to no answers and that resulted in unknown gunshots coming from a teenage punk, yet in reality, it was really small quincy arrows shot in non-vital locations around his body until he finally spoke. His employer's name and other information given during the 'transaction'. Matsuri would thank the man before shooting a few arrows at the back of the spine, leaving him unable to do his job for awhile if not forever.

Her smarts and her quincy training should be enough to get her a real job. Not something where she would be on her feet for hours upon hours and only make fifty bucks that day and dealing with stupid, annoying people all day. She had to be cold-hearted, unnerving in her quest to live the life. It would only take a few months for her to find that opportunity in being an assassin for hire. While Matsuri's boss was declared dead, his employer was still alive, barely missing a shot to the heart. Well, the current assassin was in no condition to finish the job anytime soon, a woman who has basically trained to do things similar to this her whole life should be able to do a quicker and better job. Yeah, she felt anxious about finding these guys, nervous of what they might do to her, but when she met up with them, told them what happened and how skilled she was, they wanted to see just how skilled she truly was with a gun. This was the modern times and the gun replaced arrows for conventional projectile weapons, but the basics of targeting and a still hand was all there. Matsuri might not have been used to the feel of a gun, but after that first shot, it might as well have been an extension of her own hand. Matsuri was able to prove that she could do the job, now what they offered as payment was almost half a year's worth she would be paid if she still had that secretary job.

Thanks to her former boss, Matsuri knew where he was staying, at least before the attempted murder, as well as his phone number, and he had no idea that she was the new hitman. All she had to do was arrange the time and place before taking the shot. From that unsuspecting shot from one of the few people he thought he could trust, despite not knowing her personally, to the proof of the target's death and the payment, Matsuri found what she wanted to do. Her former boss had plently of resources and names, file cabinets full of profiles and information that could help her in this assassin business. But wait! No one just jumps straight into killing people that a few years ago, you wanted to protect right? Well, there were not that many spiritually aware humans that could be a threat to her and the shinigami only involved themselves in spiritual matters. If you were 99.9 percent sure that you could get away with murder, free from the laws placed upon you as you exist in this society, and made quite a lot of money doing it, would you? Well, for Matsuri, the answer was yes.

As long as you had the cash and you didn't need too much detail about her own life, it did not matter who her target was. Of course she displayed her uncommon accuracy to her employers before they hired her and made quite the amount of money for her targets. There have been times where she would use her bow so the bullet could not be traced back to her. For three months, Matsuri would cut ties from her parents and the rest of the Quincy clan, deciding this was the more 'peaceful' way of getting away from the bow-wielding spirit warriors.

It has just been three months since she received news about the area where the Abbey was destroyed by some unknown explosion. Things back home were sure to be disorganized for the Quincy, which could make it the perfect opportunity to go back.

Combat

Strengths

-Accuracy has always been her biggest strength. Whether its with an arrow or a gun, there are few targets that Matsuri would miss completely.

-Matsuri's intelligence may be her greatest strength. She possesses knowledge of the quincy abilities, as well as book smarts.

-Matsuri is not hindered by her quincy bow alone. She also knows how to use most firearms with ease and rarely goes anywhere without one.

Weaknesses

-Perhaps like all quincies, she is not built for pure physical power or to take too much physical force from others.

-Her motivation for using her abilities is really lacking. Only if her own life was in danger or she was guaranteed a cash sum would she actually use her abilities.

-Matsuri is hardly a close range fighter. It's either using projectiles to attack or you can pretty much declare yourself the victor if you keep her from using them.
