Appearance

Marco

Marco Graham Blackberg stands a statuesque 5'10", and has a muscular, yet lean body. His hair is off-white. His eyes are brown, and he wears gloves on his hands. He also wears a customary red quincy robe at times, although this is just purely out of fashion than anything.

He always wears a scowl on his face, although he is not always melancholic. He just doesn't want to show his emotions always...or rather, he doesn't know how to show his emotions.

Personality

Marco Graham is, in every sense of the word, a Quincy.

Quincy have been known to act honorably and held themselves in high esteem, ever since written history began to write their kind into the pages of time. And when, during childhood, Marco stumbled upon a book that was in the possession of his father, he made it his life's resolve to act and walk like the quincies of old. There were very few remaining in the world, and although this is so, Marco remains steadfast in trying to work alone. This, however, becomes the main bane when he is forced to seek help from other warriors.

He is silent, proud, and with a certain air of mystery about him. He rarely smiles although those who are close to him staunchly says he DOES smile. Yet, at first glance, one wonders how and for what reason does he smile.

He carries himself with stereotypical quincy pride. There is one thing that he does do, though...he will try to convert someone into the Quincy order, notwithstanding certain bans about the quincy being a class in their own which only traverses among families, as long as this someone is deemed to be worthy of carrying the quincy cross. Yet, judging by Marco's standards, him trying to convert someone happens very, very seldom.

History

Marco Graham Blackburg is a descendant of the proud Blackburg clan of Quincies. They always had adhered to the code of the Quincy, but they do admit that by adhering to this code they are condemning themselves (the Quincy Order) to extinction. Yet, they still adhered to the code.

The first Blackburg quincy was a monk who studied at the Vatican during the First Crusade, Fray Jairus Benedicti Blackburg. He discovered his powers at an early age, and was immediately accepted into the Order. He relayed the news to his sibling and soon word spread of the great gift that they had received.

Very soon after this, the Blackburg clan began to hone their gift more actively, what with at least one or two Blackburgs becoming a quincy every generation or so. Soon, this became a source of pride for the Blackburg clan, becoming considered as one of the greatest and earliest Quincy clans in existence.

How heavy this must have laid on the lad's shoulders.

Soon, though, after the Great Purge the Blackburgs migrated further westward, a once proud clan now scorned for becoming 'disciples' of the 'demon arts'. They still kept and adhered to the strict disciplines of the Quincy pride, and still adhered themselves as servants of God, no matter what the people around them said of their way of life. They lived for a while in Europe, then moved to Spain, and eventually moved to the United States after its discovery.

There, they survived, joining an existing Abbey of quincies right after they arrived. Their proud stature was recognized, and they were re-instated once more into a stature of legendary reverence.

This was what Marco was born into.

He was the first-born of the family, and the very first among his cousins and of his generation to bear the cross. His gift was discovered even before he can walk, learning to produce a loosely formed arrow and bow when a minor hollow came walking into their home. Even before his father and uncle could arrive, he had already wounded the hollow to a certain extent that it would not be able to do any more harm to him other than lick him. He was a certified quincy.

Thus began the early life of the quincy. Marco was trained at an early age by his dad and his uncle, from the basics of forming a proper bow and arrow, to giving him his very first cross.

This was a trinket that was used by the very first Blackburg, and it is said that once unlocked, this trinket would become beneficial to whomsoever would be able to unlock it. In over a hundred years, no one except its original owner was able to open it. Not even his father, and his uncle could only make it produce its basic traits.

Burdened by such a task, Marco reverted further inside himself, and unlike any other child his age immersed himself in constant study and constant training. Also, with the honing of his father and uncle, Marco incepted into himself the Quincy pride, blotting out any other space for friends and fun. seeing the need for more studying to be a quincy and school getting in the way, he himself decided, when he was of age, to just study at home rather than away from home.

The fateful day for leaving the home came when tragedy struck.

The very same hollow that they thought Marco had finished came back much stronger, having evolved into something less of an Adjuchas and holding a deep grudge against the mere child who had injured both his pride and his ego. It had all but killed Marco's parents, his uncle was badly injured, his cousins were unconscious. It was all up to Marco, who surprisingly had awakened the power of his ancestor's trinket.

It produced a large enough energy that manifested into a fine bow, and Marco shot it true and straight into the hollow's heart. It was a direct hit. Marco had confirmed his very first hollow kill, and a powerful hollow at that. Struck with grief at the near-death of his family and his prior incapability to protect them due to weakness and inexperience, Marco left home that day, much to the chagrin of his parents, his uncle, and relatives.

Now, bearing the cross, Marco sought further training and study, and decided to cut himself off from his current Abbey and his family, to strengthen himself by being independent, and by discovering if there were anymore quincies like himself out in the wide, open yonder.

Combat

Strengths

  • Quick Reflexes: Quincy have been known to have quick reflexes, and are constantly aware of their surroundings, a must if they are training to be the long-range warriors that they are. Therefore since an early age Marco has been taught to move and to think quick. He is constantly training this though, but has become quite good at it.
  • Peerless Aim: Since his childhood Marco has been discovered to possess a sniper's perfect eye for aiming at things. He can hit an apple 100 feet away, even with the target moving.

Weaknesses

  • Limited Movement: The reason why Quincy are taught to move and think quick is because of the same reason that is their strength. A Quincy can never move quickly when he is taking aim, and when he does aim, he is a sitting duck. It is more difficult to aim and shoot when you are trying to evade at the same time and at the present, this is a challenge even for Marco.
  • Longtime charge: Marco has the capacity to fire a barrage of arrows, but the penalty for this is the longer he fires, the longer he also has to charge to form a fully-formed, full strength arrow. Even longer when he has to fire big time-damage arrows after he has been firing arrows for a long time.
  • Over-fatigue: Though extremely talented, raising his arms for far too long had been Marco's weakness and he never did give any prior notice to this, other than when he noticed that the stronger his arrows gets, the more they tend to miss and misfire because his arms are trembling from being tired.
