Shinigami Libtinarii

A libitinarii is a spirit that has bound its eternal soul to an unliving object. Over time the libitinarii will lose its mortal shell, continuing to “live” as a cluster of reshi particles. Libitinarii do not appear to age and they regenerate wounds at a rapid pace. However, if the item that the soul was bound to is destroyed the libitinarii will turn to dust and die.

A libitinarii can be created either with or without the spirit's consent, though when it is done without the creature created tends to be a mindless being unable to act of any sort of free will. Libtinarii that are created with the spirit's consent maintain all the abilities that they had in life and so a shinigami made into a libitinarii would be able to access both shikai and bankai.

Centurion

A centurion is an elite libitinarii, one of the seven shinigami sent to Hueco Mundo during the Second Masked War. These libitinarii have the innate ability to create more of their kind even if spirits for conversion are not available. This ability is known as imperium.

Sedris

A rising star of the shinigami, Sedris was noted as a promising member of the Gotei 13, rising through the ranks faster than any shinigami before him. As he grew stronger so did his pride and it was this hubris that kept him in the position of third seat for several years, long enough for his brother to match and surpass him. Furious, Sedris challenged the eleventh division captain to a duel knowing it was the easiest way for him to achieve his goals. In reaction to the challenge, Sedris and his six close comrades were sent on a mission to Hueco Mundo to prove their worth.

The mission was a failure resulting in a near-death for all of the seven 'centurions'. The Emperor of Hueco Mundo convinced them to join him for he could see their usefulness. They turned their efforts to fighting the shinigami that they had been allies with for so long. Forty years passed and Sedris discovered a way to ensure him and his comrades' survival against all odds. Using mystic arts unknown to both shinigami and arrancar he bound the souls of the centurions to their zanpakutō.

A mission against the shinigami on their home turf meant the end for the centurions, burnt in the fires of Sōkyoku. They only managed to survive in some form by the lowly arrancar that fled upon their death who took their fallen zanpakutō to prove their death to the emperor.

The six swords of the centurions were locked away deep within the catacombs of Las Noches but the sword of Sedris himself was lost in transit. It was found in a cave in Alabama, USA, by Yomijou Keikoku in 2008.

Kain

Another rising star of the Gotei during the war, Kain was the fastest shinigami ever to attain the rank of lieutenant. He was Sedris' twin brother and the two of them served in many missions together. Kain was the only shinigami to ever defeat Sedris in a duel and by most was considered his equal, and possibly his superior. He died saving Sedris from an ambush and his death was the final straw of the young shinigami's sanity.

In rebirth Kain is fiercely loyal to Sedris, willing to follow his judgments and plans without question. He is not afraid however to voice his opinions to his leader. In battle he is an aristocratic warrior, refusing to fight opponents if he has an unfair advantage. He tends to use a combination of his imperium, mid level kidō, and his shikai to defeat most opponents.

It has been noted that he does not appear to breathe, realizing that as a libitinarii he does not need to. He is always calm and collected, never openly giving to anger, however he harbours a hatred of the shinigami that he feels betrayed and abandoned him.

Leo

Leo was a skilled swordsman with few equals. He tutored the brothers Kain and Sedris in the ways of the sword, surprised at how quickly the two advanced their skills. When Kain and Sedris were selected for the mission to Las Noches he volunteered, for he did not want to see the brothers go alone.

With his zanpakutō Leo was able to fell dozens of hollows and arrancar at a time. However his code of conduct generally makes him fight one on one battles. This would be his downfall as three of the Espada attacked him at the same time, killing him.

Leo is man of few words, preferring to allow his actions to do the talking. In battle he will always seek the strongest opponent on the field, challenging them alone, using his imperium to allow him a one on one fight, or against opponents of worthy skill. He is loyal to Sedris, although he harbors no particular hatred for Seireitei, having come on the death mission of his own free will.

Tirlene

The former vice leader of the Special Forces, Tirlene was the perfect combination of speed and power, stories rumoring that she was able to dissolve a gillain with a single punch. She prefers direct combat, and refuses to overwhelm an opponent she deems worthy with the Imperium. Normally she will use them merely to keep her fights one on one.

Rene

Rene is a madman by all accounts, only wanting to further his own experiments and his agenda. In the past he helped Cher poison Sedris' lover and his experiments in hollowifcation yielded one of the first attempts at a visored, the shinigami now known as Chaos. He has no true loyalty to Sedris, only using him as a means to an end to achieve a dark world filled with just him and his plague bearers and the dead.

Cher

Cher first and foremost is madly, madly in love with Sedris. It was her that poisoned his lover years ago (with the help of Rene) and she will fiercely attack anyone who is vying for his attention or that she thinks or perceives is vying for his attention. She however looks down on all men other than her beloved Sedris. She is childish and her high pitched laughs can be heard half a mile away.

Sanfilt

Sanfilt was a member of the eleventh division alongside Sedris. As close to a rival as anybody within their circle of friends. When each one attained a new peak of power the other would work their hardest to match it. He is not especially easy to anger and is even less likely to enter into a fight but should his lifelong rival be involved in some combat you can bet for sure that Sanfilt will join soon enough.
