Appearance
Personality
Kyle has an exceptionally strong willpower, this doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s stubborn and will never budge on anything, simply that he will see things through to the end. This infinite willpower stems from his parents and a strong belief in his own capability. This comes from an awareness of own skills and an unparalleled confidence. The confidence only serves to funnel his incredibly courage, essentially making Kyle an incredibly brave and confident young man.
Overanalysing things is something he would never do, as this lad likes to get things over with as quickly as possible. The impatience doesn’t keep him from actually completing his tasks, but it has a tendency to make things a tad more complicated. Kyle is prone to messing things up, simply because he wants to finish. He actually envies those who are able to actually enjoy doing things like paperwork and boring assignments. Mr.Rayner doesn’t enjoy anything but fighting, which is why he feels right at home in the 11th division, alongside people with similar mindsets.
While rash and confident, Kyle is anything but an idiot. He can be goaded into a fight, but won’t do ridiculous things like endangering a mission or letting out a dangerous criminal. Fortunately most of his missions involve killing missions, meaning that he won’t be outsmarted or tricked into doing something. The fact that he comes off as somewhat of a hothead, makes most opponent underestimate him, which always works in his favour.
History
Kyle was born into a completely normal family, his mother was housewife and his father an accountant. They loved their little boy very much and never experienced any form of financial difficulties. Safe to say, they had no worries in life, but one. Kyle’s mother was a steadfast woman’s right defender and her willpower had been passed on to her little offspring. His father stood by her side all the time, and eventually it would have disastrous consequences.
One day, 11 year old Kyle returned from school only to find that his two parents had been brutally murdered. Sadly, the young boy had no relatives and would have to fend for himself, society would not care for a young orphan. The streets or some crappy orphanage where they beat you regularly, the street was more tempting to someone like him.
Now a happy young boy turned homeless orphan, Kyle had to steal in order to survive. Not only something he hated, but something he wasn’t particularly good at. Attempting to steal a piece of bread one day, the shopkeeper saw him and the chase begun. To the young boy’s dismay, the police were just around the corner as well, which meant that stopping was no longer an option. After a short chase, Kyle had managed to lose them all save the shopkeeper, who eventually had him trapped in an alley. The shopkeeper was angry, but Kyle had nothing to lose.
As the shopkeeper attempted to get him with a knife, Kyle tripped him and drove the mans knife into his own gut, wounding him fatally. Unfortunately the police just managed to catch up and saw a street urchin standing over a man bleeding to death. One bullet, and the orphan was dead. What awaited him next, no one had told him about.
Mere hours after he had passed away a black dressed woman appeared in front of him and tapped his forehead with her katana’s hilt, sending him to the Soul Society. After spending many years looking for his parents to naught, Kyle eventually started settling in, learning about the Shinigami and how you could become one if you had a significant amount of reiatsu. After many years of hardship none of Kyle’s newly made friends were left alive, and he decided to try and become a Shinigami.
He succeeded and managed to make it through the academy, albeit having a hell of a time making it through the kidō classes. Learning the bare basics of kidō and become a very fierce Zanpakutō wielder, Kyle was eventually permitted to become a part of the 11th division.
Combat
Strengths
- Physical strength: Much like most of the 11th division members, Kyle’s physical strength is very impressive. This comes from hacking hollows to death, rigorous training and countless bouts with his squad mates. Sake is great incentive for a quick fight and had driven him and many of his new friends into many a duel. Physical prowess allows him to block and parry a lot of attacks.
- Willpower: Kyle has an uncanny willpower and is willing to do whatever it takes to finish the fight. Whether the situation requires him to dig himself out of an avalanche using his eye-lids or bite a Menos Grande to death, Kyle won’t disappoint and will do his best. This also means that he will keep on going despite his body taking cuts or a lot of punishment.
Weaknesses
- Kidō: Like pretty much any 11th division member, Kyle has a problem with kidō. He’s not good at using it, nor does he think much of it. Though it’s likely that he could improve if he actually spent time practicing it, he won’t.
- Fight lover: The 11th division mindset will get Kyle into a lot of unnecessary fights and it’s easy for people who are far stronger than him, to simply goad him into fighting them.
- Alcohol: Kyle loves to drink Sake and will get into a fight over nothing after he's drunk. Like any other Shinigami, he fights incredibly poor when affected by alcohol. This does not keep him from starting fights though.
