Appearance
At first glance, Isao seems to be a terrible person, just because of his numerous scars on his arm, shown due to his sleeveless upper shihakusho. His demeanor also contributes to that, the ever-present scowl that covers his face. At 5'9" and 141 lbs, the shinigami features a fairly lean frame, his form compact for walking around with a decent exhibition of muscle.
Looks to be in the range of 19~21 in terms of age, though his ultra-white blonde matted-down hair and his narrow black eyes show some form of oddity.
As mentioned earlier, his top shihakusho is sleeveless, while his bottom shihakusho seems to be a pair of modified pants that's been tattered a good measure. Who knows if it's from fights or not?
Personality
First impressions with Isao make him out to be a lazy, but daunting slob. His bunk is never clean, and so are his other belongings. In fact, his matted-down hair is one of the giveaways as to his laziness. The only thing that'll get his blood boiling is fighting and the prospect of a spar, to which he'll jump right up for. His serious, no-joke attitude turns many people off, but all's well when he jumps into the fray to save your arse from a fight.
Trivia: -He does not drink alcohol; when pushed to drink, he'll respond violently. -Isao does not practice any other type of hand-to-hand martial arts except for his own form of judo, labeling him as a grappler. -While he does like meat, he will not eat it if it's been tampered with. [I.e. Dipped in sauce, marinated, sandwich'd]
History
The 12th District of Rukongai lies on the direct border that separates the brigands of the higher numbered districts and the well-to-do souls of the lower numbered districts. It was here the Ichijin twins were born. Isao and Misao were considered a privilege by many, especially to Shinda Ichijin and Minami Torikawa. Little did they know that in the years to come they would be in Seireitei's scope for possessing a gratuitous amount of reiatsu compared to some of the other young ones.
The twins' growth encompassed "fun times", to say the least. Frequent attacks from brigands started to grow in numbers as they grew older, though none of them were really serious, a couple of looting runs here and there within the timeframe of 10 years or so. By a certain age, the twins had enough of the brigands and put on a bold demonstration at one point, where Misao barely took rein of her latent powers to daze some of the brigands, while Isao laid them unconscious. Some of the adults that still had guts threw them out after this.
Word slowly spread that time after time, the twins were fending off attacks from the brigand sector, something that declined in frequency each passing season. As they did so, their control over their reiatsu grew somewhat. It was enough for the two that they were able to defend their parents, at the very least, from the brigands.
Their first encounter with a full-fledged shinigami came with complimentary words, though it left the twins mystified and curious. The two put some effort into researching these black robed outsiders, and eventually found out they were "defenders" in their own right, with the ability to purify monsters called "hollow" from innocent people. It excited them, and wondered how to get in contact with one again.
Joy was quickly turned into anger for Isao as another attack happened in the dead of night, and the half-asleep Isao just happened to witness the death of his parents. The raw anger pushed Isao to singlehandedly demolish the rabble responsible for the crime, though numerous wounds had been inflicted in the course of his rampage. The last thing he felt before he blacked out was another shinigami.
Isao awoke a couple of days later with Misao missing and his injuries healed. He was apparently transported to the 9th district, but with so many events in his mind, he went around, as blind as a bat, not knowing what to look for. It hurt to walk at the time, but his eventual sight of his former home left him torn, where he made himself a vow to rid of the entirety of the brigands in the lower sector. He would have to find power, first. The boy trudged on towards Seireitei, an invisible force pulling him there, to a degree.
Upon reaching the gate, Isao found out that the gatekeeper was expecting him, and let him go through. [The shinigami had given the gatekeeper the only description that mattered; a solitary boy.] With serious expression in tow, the shinigami-to-be marched towards the center, catching the eye of a few shinigami, who all didn't even bother stopping him. Through some stroke of luck, he found the shinigami that he'd encountered before he blacked out... or rather, the shinigami found him. With a proper recommendation from this certain figure, he was inducted into the shinigami academy, where he was later reunited with Misao, and later, the twins would meet their older sister that had been searching for them for quite a long time. The appropriate number of years spent in the academy granted the siblings access to the Gotei 13. Isao, for one, now spends most of his time training or lounging, for the purpose of "storing his power" for the next necessary fight. The shinigami gets along with his sisters rather well, despite bickering with Hisao frequently.
Combat
Strengths
Throughout his academy years, he has focused especially on Hohō, Hakuda, and Zanjutsu. Not only has he made a style of judo that is more his style for himself, but he is quick to adapt to new things. Therefore, one of his fortes are dealing with new enemies, since he can figure their powers out relatively easily if given the right clues. He has a high rate of pain tolerance and physical strength.
Weaknesses
His affinity for close-combat grappling sets him up for severe counterattacks if the enemy so chooses. The lack of utilizing kidō also limits his fighting prowess against long-range enemies.
