Appearance
Hiro is a muscular built man who shows the results of his hard training. A well chiseled face and sinister smile go make him seem somewhat intimidating. His teeth are sharply pointed giving an almost vampire-esque smile which seems quite disconcerting. Hero only has his right arm due to the loss of the other long ago. A scar in the shape of a giant claw-mark runs all the way down his chest. Long mahogany colored hair runs all the way to his mid-back and thick but not bushy eyebrows show off his unique vibrant blue eyes.
Personality
Hiro is a very intelligent but highly erratic individual. Mood swings and anger issues can plague him at times of high tension. This however is controlled at many times by his logical side. Strong and confident the only people that Hiro respects are those who have a will to fight that rivals his. Although this does not stop the fact he knows when a fight would be greatly unwise.
However he will not back down if someone tries to intimidate Hero this can lead to getting on the bad side of people he probably should not piss off. Following the path to gain power and the respect (out of fear or otherwise) of others runs his motives most of the time.
History
Born into poverty in the streets of Kyoto during the late 1700's Hiro lived scrounging for every bit of food. His mother died in child birth due to the lack of proper care and his father always blamed him for this. At age 8 Hiro was abandoned by his father and left to fend for himself. Food and money was scarce and the boy took a risk every night finding a place to lay his head. Through these experiences grew a strong and bitter child. It was in his early years he became well adept at pickpocketing and even more adept at running faster than the people he stole from. The world he lived in was small compared to those of normal people. All that consumed him was to be better than the next person and to take what he was always denied by the hellish people who populated this world.
Over the years Hiro learned to defend himself well. With the money stolen from the assorted people he had swindled he was able to obtain a fitting sword. Training every spare second he had Hiro became a skilled fighter and had many run ins that left him with no choice but to fight. This however did not deter the young boy and he was determined to become feared and famous one day. This over time happened slowly as rivals he had were not able to bring down his blade. Hiro became a king in his own small kingdom of trash and criminals.
One day however Hiro did not expect to be thrown into a new world that would show him a bit more and open up all that had been denied him for many years. At age 16 he had spent half his life on the streets and he knew every safe place and dingy whole in this forsaken city. This was his kingdom and nobody would change that, but there wasn't anything for him beyond those walls. This however would change drastically when his daily routine finally got him the wrong man. Roaming through the marketplace Hero eyed a well dressed man almost looking regal. This was a surprise in the neighborhood in which Hiro was the one to be messed with. Quickly grabbing up the coin purse of this well to do citizen Hiro made his escape. One thing he did not expect though is to be caught. A hand grasped his arm and the man un-waveringly looked down at the young man who dared to steal from him. Breaking away Hiro drew his blade and prepared to defend himself. The man then withdrew a katana of elegant beauty that Hero envied and decided that he would make his. With an animalistic scream the battle began, surprisingly though Hero was no match. All that could be done was to defend himself, until with a swift movement the sword was struck from Hiro's hand. The man put the tip of the blade to his throat and this would be the end. To Hero's surprise the man did not strike him down but withdrew his blade. Hiro screamed to finish him since he had finally been utterly defeated but it would seem fate had different reasons to keep him alive.
It was at this impass in his life that Hiro was taken in by the man from the marketplace. This man turned out to be a master samurai traveling through the city. Hiro was enrolled into the school in which he trained many promising young men and learned the ways of the blade. Years passed and a whole new world opened to Hiro, and the bitter young man grew disciplined and finally found a way to channel his rage and power in this world. The master samurai took him in as a son and trained him in every technique he could. One day however the school was attacked and the leader of these ronin challenged and killed Hiro's master. The anger and bitterness towards this world was rekindled within Hero and as Hero held his master in his arms as he died a promise was made. If it took him forever and cost him his life Hiro would one day kill this man and avenge the life so precious to him taken. The master had been the only family Hiro had ever had that did not abandon him. The man would pay a million times over in his own blood. This marked at the age of 21 the beginning of his search.
Three years passed and Hero was a ronin wandering city to city honing his skills and fighting anyone who got in his way. Every day a strict training regiment controlled his free time. Until one day a rumor came to his ears about the roaming samurai who had killed his master. Traveling to the city in which this man dwelled Hiro tracked the mans movements until the day he struck. With all the fury that had built inside of him Hiro fought with every ounce of strength he had. The battle raged on for a long time and no matter how many wounds inflicted upon Hiro, there was no stopping him until the deed was done. His opponent stabbed straight through Hiro's chest and laughed having the battle won. Gripping the blade with one hand making sure his opponent could not withdraw his sword, Hiro sacrificed this life to atone for the death of his master. In one swing to the surprised look of his enemy Hiro decapitated his opponent and then sank to the ground. Having lost a lot of blood and his body slowly losing its power from the fatal wound. Slipping from his body Hero discovered there was a chain attached to his chest now and his body lay lifeless before him. Confused and disconcerted Hiro did not know what was happening to him. Suddenly a man dressed in all black robes appeared before him. Explaining that Hiro was now dead and it was his job to send him to a place called Soul Society. This man a "shinigami" would perform the crossing over ritual, this was beyond what Hiro could allow. This man just believed that Hero should trust him, Hiro trusted nobody and this bastard wouldn't take him so easily. Refusing to believe it Hiro attempted to run and rip this infernal chain from him. Pain shot through him but he struggled so hard against his fate the chain began to weaken. As it ripped from his body the man who had identified himself as a shinigami looked deadly serious and rushed to him. Hiro doubled over in pain and could feel a strange feeling welling within him. A voice in his head yelled at him, screams that burrowed into Hiro's skull. A sick feeling washed over Hiro and at that moment he looked up only to see the hilt of the shinigami's sword striking down upon his forehead. The pain settled slowly and a blue light surrounded him. With this the shinigami wished him to be at peace and off he was.
Upon entering Soul Society he was thrown into a world not far removed from that of his youth. A city of poverty and strife and pain. This was just one more blow to his views of the world. Even the afterlife was nothing but the trial that life was. Hiro lived his days as he did on earth a pickpocket working to gain every cent he could from the unsuspecting public. Years and years swept by and Hero lived as a king among his dirt kingdom again. One day though he learned of the shinigami again. Hearing of these people, like the man who sent him back into a hell from his youth. Seeking out this man lead him to the walls of Seireitei and he finally understood what the shinigami were. From there he would seek out the man to confront him and to gain more power he would become one of the shinigami that sent him here. This began with his enrollment into the academy.
Over his time in the academy his memories of the days training away at the masters school came back to him. The thrill of the training and the fights gave him new confidence to become a legend in his time. Blowing through his courses Hiro graduated and became a new type of ronin, one who dealt with rivals he never thought existed. There was still much strength for him to attain and this power was not going to become stale. The battles to come would be what he needed to become unrivaled among even these age old shinigami. Nobody would stand in his way, and nothing would stop him from gaining more power.
Combat
Strengths
Hiro's movements and attacks during combat are swift and final, he does not waste a blow and is a master of speed. After many years of fighting with only one arm the strength of this arm rivals that of people who wield their sword with both arms. This came after many battles in which he could only make quick strikes without locking swords due to the lack of leverage.
Making quick and vital sword strikes is the basis for his fighting style and so not only the speed of movements but the speed of his sword are important, and over hundreds of years has been the main aspect of his training.
Weaknesses
In the department of hand-to-hand combat there is little that Hiro can do especially after the loss of his arm. Anger fuels his fighting but makes his attacks much less critical. This deters the severity of his strikes, not always bringing down the opponent as easily. Deflecting and multiple defenses are made nearly impossible because of the lack of a second free hand.
