Spirit Description
Getsuruitou appears to be a mirrored image of Kanaye with a dismissive look always stretched across her face. An overconfident being that always makes fun of her user, but it is done to temper Kanaye into a better fighter. It is said that Getsuruitou in a contrast to that of Kanaye’s stubborn, and spiky attitude. As the complete opposite despite the serious face, Getsuruitou is gentle, and often tries to inform her user that there is always another way to avoid becoming “Dirty” Dirty meaning being covered with blood, which would merit being cleaned or a “bath” in the spirit’s case.
Shikai
Release Command: Ten o saki nasai! (Rend the Heavens!)
The weapon itself undergoes a massive change switching from the style of a Katana to more of a fantasy looking medieval double bladed sword. The blades on both ends are colored a pure bluish white color while the internal cores are more steel colored with the color becoming darker as it approaching the center. Several ornate markings are etched along the two blades while offering some sort of elegance.
On the hilt of the large weapon, a thin chain wraps along the user’s right arm and connects to the middle of the hilt making it seem as if the weapon is an anchor for a gruesome looking naval vessel. This chain is used to give the weapon range without forcing the user into actively perusing an opponent in close quarters.
Shikai Abilities
Gessyoku (Lunar Eclipse)
The weapon itself seems to steal the light from the area making an area within a 5 ft radius of its user look as if it were grayscale. The light from this 5 ft area is stored into both ends of the blade, and is utilized by twirling the weapon by its elongated hilt. The stolen light in conjunction with the user’s Reiryoku forces the area nearby to become heavy and ionized. The ionized air is then thrown forward and explodes into a crescent shaped blast of super-heated energy burning everything in its way until hitting the supposed target.
Kaiki Syoku (Total Eclipse)
The weapon itself drains the light from a 10 ft radius creating a pulsing yet blinding light from the wielder’s position. The user seems unaffected by the bright light generated by the weapon while the air continues to follow in the suit of Gessyoku. The energy is hurled out towards the target in the form of a large ball of energy. The ball is able to be moved by the user until it is detonated creating a large shockwave that creates a vacuum of air.
- Kanaye’s concentration must be trained on her target with high consideration to the area around her. With that, Kanaye can move the ball of energy as if it were an extension of her own body. The size of the energy released takes the size of almost half of Kanaye’s mass making the orb nearly four by four feet in size.
It is a possibility in the future when Kanaye gains greater control of her Shikai to possibly double the size to an eight by eight foot orb, but perhaps could only become available when reaching Bankai.
Strengths
The Shikai is able to be charged by twirling between her fingers or being spun overhead by the chain attached to the hilt. The weapon is capable of dealing massive damage in close proximity by utilizing advanced twists and motions when engaged in close melee with a target. The thin chain wrapped around Kanaye’s arm is extendable enabling Getsuruitou to be thrown around in a radius of nearby fifteen feet around her. This ability is usually used to confuse the enemy by first luring them into a false sense of security that the weapon has a range of only five feet. When using the Reiryoku type abilities Getsuruitou drains the color from an area, making it appear lifeless while the user is still in vibrant, yet blinding color. This causes the user to be brighter than her background forcing the opponent to adjust their eyes by blinking several times, shielding their eyes, or become disorientated by the odd color imbalance.
Weaknesses
The weapon is large, and appears to only be designed for purely attacks, there is no proper way to utilize the weapon in a defensive posture. Only by using her own mobility, the weapon itself gives no stealth to Kanaye’s movements causing her always to be on the offensive side of battle. When throwing the weapon forward causing it to spiral at a ranged enemy it leaves Kanaye open for a matter of seconds after hurling her Shikai forward enabling opponents to dodge the Shikai and charge.
The Reiryoku required to use the energy based attacks is extremely taxing on Kanaye’s body causing her to become rather sluggish after using a single attack giving an opponent the chance to easily turn the tide of battle.
