Asauchi (Shallow Hit) is Asakobi Asao's Zanpakutō.
Appearance-wise, it's a normal katana with a plain, oval cross guard.

Spirit Description
His sword spirit is metaphorically, and quite literally the sword in the stone. A simple asauchi style katana stabbed into a rounded stone in the middle of a flat dirt field as far as the eye can see.
Shikai
Release Command: Wake up, Asauchi. Appearance-wise, it's a normal katana with a plain, oval cross guard. It does have a little sharper of an edge though...so..that's..new...sorta...
Shikai Abilities
Cut
This ability is how his zanpkutou counteracts his complete lack of Reiryoku. As the blade contacts with the a spiritual entity it pulls out reiryoku in that direct area and puts it into the sword allowing it to cut the opponent by using the enemies own energy to do so. The sword, for fairness reasons so I don't get to cut every captain in half with their own energy, can only pool within itself the amount of reaitsu equal to his weapon skill multiplied by 1.25. I.E. WS 100 x 1.25 makes strike his and put 125 points behind blow.
Shallow
When Asao strikes his blade against anything, or slashes it across anyone, at that moment a multitude of other blades will appear and slash at the same point offset by two millimeters on either side of the original blade and angled by Eight degrees in towards the original blade. The number of blades is based on the his current weapon skill, him gaining 1 new blade set on either side for every 50 points of weapon skill he has, with a base of 1 on either side from first gaining shikai. He can only form up to that maximum amount for every post cycle.
Split
As his swords convert enemy reiryoku and channel it into themselves they can also cut through enemy reiryoku based attacks to a small degree, following the cut formula from above. It literally shifts the direction of energy attacks it cuts to either side of the blade, though always away from Asao himself if able, up to the amount the cut formula could match and suck in, using only the central true blade held by Asao. I.E. 60 point cero is launched at Asao with 40 Weapons. By meeting it with his blade he can deflected it to either side of himself, up to 50 points of the way, leaving a mere ten points to actually hit him. An energy defense that literally cuts his opponents powers away.
Strengths
Objection! - It's asauchi, the only one to have the name given to every weak ass zan around. It's typically never that anyone really understands he isn't using a sealed blade after he releases as nothing changes.

Weaknesses
Put them on ice - Except for the last, highly unlikely to be used ability, his sword is entirely reliant on his opponent, and even the last ability is like that in how it relies on his opponents pressure to fill the explosive power behind the blast.
One-Trick-Pony - His blade does nothing to adapt to his own shortcomings, merely improving further on his only real skill of Zanjutsu. Likewise it does not bring anything more to the table then blades, and on a very rare occasion his explosive trap.
I'm tired - Forming the blades with every strike or contact is draining on Asao's energy, despite the augmentation from sucking out the energy at the points of contact and putting that into the blade creation as well.
D-cell Batteries - Asao has no spiritual energy to speak of, only enough to have been considered for allowance into academy. The zanpakutou is his literal spiritual energy battery, charged from his opponents own body.
Robin Hood - Split does not work on quincy arrows, he cannot split them in half as they are reishi.
