Appearance
Ademaro is short by many judges (Five foot and eight inches), although this fact has never really bothered him too much. Being a Shinigami, he keeps his body in good shape, and this helps to display just how well proportioned his body is - He could easily be mistaken for someone taller in a photograph. He has pale skin, which he doesn't like, and brown hair that he keeps above the shoulders at all times, although as of late has considered letting it grow longer, as that seems to be the fashion amongst his acquaintances.
Personality
Ademaro is a quiet person by default. Being talkative isn't a skill that a carpenter would really need in his line of work, as most of his waking hours are spent eating, sleeping, or in his workshop, sawing, sanding or putting bits of wood together. But this isn't to suggest he doesn't enjoy talking, because he does, but he is ever wondering if what he's about to say is worth saying or how it'll be received, and this can, around strangers, stop him talking completely. However, the war instilled a need for companionship in Ademaro, and he constantly craves it, suffering minor panic attacks if alone for prolonged periods of time. It is because of this that he works best in a team, and will try to be join one hastily whenever going solo is an option.
He believes that all people are more-or-less equal(Having to address superiors 'correctly' really ticks him off), and that they should be spoken to, and speak to each other, in the same, friendly manner. Rude or arrogant people irritate him to no end, and while he thinks the worse of them for acting like that, he's more likely to avoid that person in future rather than call them on it.
One thing he enjoys, though, is his work as a Shinigami. Cleansing a Hollow, and making the world just that tiniest bit safer for the moment, he would probably ride the wave of happiness for hours afterwards, feeling a major sense of accomplishment and a job well done. It is during this high that he enjoys talking, and tends to do it a lot while he is still in high spirits.
History
Born and raised in Berlin to a family still facing troubles from the end of the first world war four years before, Ademaro lived his life as best he could. He grew up decently enough, in hand-me-downs from his brother and a substandard schooling, but he had enough sustenance to survive and that was all that was needed. He left school at the age of 14 to help his father in his carpentry, a practice that was destined to become his own trade. He picked it up well, and after a few short years could make respectable furniture, and he had a good future ahead of him in the business. That is, until the second war came around.
His father was in declining health, and as his brother had been consumed by tuberculosis the year before, the mantle was left to the youngest son, and his parents wished upon his namesake (Glorious battle) that he would return alive. He didn't want to participate in the global fighting, but there were no alternatives available to him, and he was resigned to do his duty and keep his life - the latter proving, later, to remain unfulfilled.
He survived the war for several years, until 1942, when he was injured from shell bombardment in The Second Battle of El Alamein, and as the troops were dearly lacking in supplies at that time, quickly succumbed to infection. Bound to the area he died in, he remained for just over a year as an earthbound plus, before attracting special attention from a woman in some sort of robe, or eastern get-up. She didn't speak a word, just planted the hilt of her sword - and he'd been quite afraid of that - on his forehead and he'd disappeared.
He landed in the 13th District of Rukongai, and was taken into the house of the first person he met, an elderly lady named Namiko Abe. She lived on her own and was welcome for the company, as was he. In the time since he had passed away, he had still been unable to accept his own death, and it wasn't until he had spent further years in Rukongai that he finally got over it with the help of his host. In return for her hospitality and help, he became a general handyman and improved her house with his own creations.
His potential was first discovered when he found he had to seriously eat, as often as he had in real life, which he found out to be atypical of the residents of Soul Society. When he confided this to Namiko, she told him of her sightings of the Shinigami, the men in black of the afterlife, and that she thought he may be able to become one. And Ademaro then, with her news, experienced something that he hadn't before. Up until that point in his life, he had never felt true emotion. Sure, he'd known fear in the trenches, but he had lived an amazingly unremarkable and boring life otherwise. He realised that he actually wanted to become a death god and save the lives of those below from the creatures that hunted them.
With a hug, his foster mother and friend bade him good luck in his endeavour to become a death god, with the promise that she would always be where she was, regardless of whether he was rejected or accepted. To his happiness, and general surprise, he was deemed eligible and accepted into the academy, where he spent the next few years learning the skills of a soul reaper.
He excelled in no one class, despite his enthusiasm for sword-play, but got the scores he needed to avoid being thrown out (Or so the rumours said), and was deemed a Shinigami, although still a new and relatively inexperienced one. He was assigned without a seat to the seventh squad of Primary Hollow Response, and was pleased with the choice of his superiors, as it meshed with his reasons for joining.
Combat
Strengths
As it is also his weakness, he is small and fast, and has learnt to use this to his advantage when in combat. This helps him with movement and agility and because of this he is a convert of the "Ten weak slashes is better than one" school.
Weaknesses
Ademaro is short and while this doesn't make him weak, he isn't too muscular and is fairly lightweight, which would mean a large, strong enemy would be his worst nightmare.
