Appearance
Ada Akiyama. Age 17. At 5 feet and 8 inches tall, she is not extremely short, but shorter than most seventeen year olds. Natural skin color? A decent share of pink, mixed with a tan that she rarely keeps up with. She suffers from heterochromia, which therein explains her eye colors; One red, one blue. Humorously enough, her favorite beverage is Pepsi.
Her hair reaches her calves easily, when not tied up. In the case of the exception, it is roughly the length of her knees, at the shortest. A natural shade of jet black, the girl has dyed the 'tips' of her hair (roughly two inches from the ends) a bright pink, matching her spastic attitude. Be forewarned; The color of the dye tends to change over time, depending on how Ada might be feeling one day or another. She rarely cuts her hair, as she feels it is a part of her, vital to her in some way or another... thus, it's length.
She's not skin and bones, but Ada definitely watches her figure; She has the curves (36 B cup) to prove that she eats healthily. Her body is actually well trimmed; Exercise and her indulgence in martial arts during her off-time has done wonders for her physique, tightening her abs, defining her legs and giving her body a distinct shape. She has no blemishes or lines on her face. Youth has granted Ada the ability to take long nights without having to worry about the dreaded eye bags that are associated with them.
Personality
Despite her undeniably 'girly-girl' appearance, Ada is a bit of a 'trap' when it comes to personalities. She's a pure beauty on the outside, and appears about as deadly—and fragile—As a daisy. Her mannerisms in the commonplace also further the idea of this 'soft girl' mentality. But when people aren't looking, her attitude changes just a teeny, tiny bit. How so? Simple enough; the 'miss congeniality' act drops quickly, and the soft, charming, pretty-girl disappears. What replaces it? A far more hardcore, straight-forward, and edgier young lady. That's right, Ada has a dark side, and it's not just for show and tell.
This is a different side of woman that is rarely seen; A girl with an interest in guns, wrestling, martial arts, and North America. She is the definition of a tsundere tomgirl, if you ever saw one; Not afraid to get down and dirty in a fight, and not afraid to show that she likes someone by pushing them around or nailing them right in the jaw. She packs one hell of a punch, at that, so it's a LOT of affection to show.
You might ask, how does one person have such altering personality fronts? It's actually pretty simple, though somewhat disturbing; Ada Akiyama, peacemaker extraordinaire, suffers from slight Dissociative Identity Disorder. In short, she has split personalities. The combination of events from her past, added together with the fact that society requires a double standard of her in the commonplace, has caused the girl to mentally differentiate her desire to be a girl, and her desire to be what life has made her into two different personas, which correspond in dominance to the situation at hand. When in the 'daylight', the loving, tender, bright and energetic Ada resides dominant. Outside of the eyes of others, however, the 'darker' Ada shines brightest. However, in recent days it's been shown that even in the daylight, the darkness may show...
History
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Ada is the daughter of a six-generation pet shop-owning family. The shop, run by her mother, came into her hands by her mother, Maria Tallow, who's mother gave it to her... you get the picture. Each generation passed down the pet shop to their daughter when said daughter came of age (18, in their family), with the exception of Ada's mother, who's mother died of a genetic illness that runs in the family, leaving her an heir to the shop at the age of 16. Her grandmother, a wise older woman, decided that she would be able to run the shop on her own, without her guidance, and in this she left the shop completely in her granddaughter's hands, and took a trip to the United States, where she lived out the rest of her days. Maria, however, didn't learn about her mother's leaving until after she'd returned from a business trip away, which left her in emotional distress; she'd never expected to have to run the shop by herself, even at her age of 20, because she always had her grandmother. Soon, customers began to waver, and sales went down, and Maria, blaming herself through the turmoil of the idea of possibly losing the family's shop, attempted suicide. She would have succeeded, had it not been for a dashing gentleman named Mitsuo Akiyama who, out of sheer chance, happened upon the woman walking dejectedly into a lake. He saved her, and nursed her back to health (mentally and physically), and even promised to help her look after the shop in her time of weakness. They soon fell madly in love, and got married.
Ada was still in her mother's stomach when the unthinkable happened. 8 months into pregnancy with her daughter, Maria was forced to watch as over time, her husband began to succumb to a genetic illness much like the one in which her mother did. It was only after having been to a hospital that it was confirmed that the illness was exactly the same one (gee, what are the chances of that?) in which her mother died of. Turmoil began to set in on Maria yet again, but she was comforted, oddly enough, by her dying husband, who assured her that everything would be fine. Ada was born sometime after her father was diagnosed with the illness, but was not even a year old when her father passed away. On his dying bed, he pleaded with his wife to be strong, for both herself and for Ada. Maria, of course, promised him that she would do everything humanly possible and beyond to ensure that their daughter had everything she could ever want in life and that she would be happy.
Of course, the world doesn't work like that. Everything isn't sunshine, rainbows and promises. Pregnant with a child, Maria was forced to run the shop alone once more, to the same effects as last time. And while she didn't attempt suicide again, she found herself in a downward spiral. She began dating again, and happened upon a fine young man who treated her all the right ways; Their relationship became slightly serious, and he started to help out around the shop for a bit. Eventually, she hired even more extra help for the shop, which proved useful as it was that same extra help, along with her boyfriend that rushed her to the hospital months later once her water broke.
Ada Akiyama was born at exactly 12 o'clock AM. Her mother named her almost immediately after birth, and clung to her like the girl's life and her own were one and the same. This behavior went on to continue for the most part of Ada's childhood; With only her mother and her then fiancée looking after her, Ada was treated like a princes... By her mother, anyway. Her mother's boyfriend was a different story; He grew more and more irritated and jealous of the amount of time that Maria spent with her child than with him. And while he didn't show this growing shade of green around his soon to be wife, Ada picked up on this easily. But she was a child, and therefore naive to the darker part of society.
Her mother married the man, named Noburo Hanzomon, when Ada was 10 years of age; Interestingly enough, though, she decided not to change her last name in accordance to their union, post-honeymoon, of course. This was the straw that broke the camel's back between the two of them. Noburo was enraged that his own wife wouldn't adopt his name, and Maria was irritated that it was such a big deal. When asked why she didn't want to change it, Maria was honest; Two reasons. One being that she still held sentimental value towards it, and the other being that she wanted her daughter to keep the name of her original father. This became a fight that lasted over two months, which Ada was simply stuck in the middle of and didn't know how to feel about it. The entire thing left Ada's mother extremely mentally weary, and she began to cling to her daughter more and more.
When Ada turned 11, her mother passed away one night when she had been cleaning the animal cages of the pet shop, having pushed herself too far in the process of it. It was a stroke, and though Ada and her father were quick enough to get the woman to the hospital while she was still alive, not much could be done about her condition. Ada had been deeply affected by the loss, but her father had taken it harder than anyone could have possibly expected. Though he had told no one, and it was a secret between himself and his wife, Ada's mother was supposed to have another child. It was how their dispute over last names was resolved. She'd been 2 months pregnant when she died. The following few months had been even harder on him than her actual death, for he was left with a child whom he barely knew how to raise, and felt great disdain over.
That stress came to a climax one night when he'd come home in a drunken state and found Ada studying about proper animal care in the back yard. Something in his mind had snapped upon seeing her, something changing within him. He suddenly began to blame the girl for the death of his wife, and that same night, when Ada fell asleep, he came into her room and assaulted, and abused the girl. He even threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone about it, and thus, to this day it's been kept a secret between the two of them. The event traumatized Ada in such a way that she would be unable, mentally, to recover from.
Things only grew worse from there. Not long after it happened, Noburo literally left home one day, and simply never returned. No post cards, no trace. He simply disappeared into broad daylight. This left Ada Akiyama alone, the only member of her family that she knew of, to take over the shop by herself... At 11 years of age. It was most likely not even legal for her to do so, but she had no choice; As a child, she was naive, but not stupid; Income was what provided jobs for several of the workers who helped in the pet shop; Income kept the shop alive, and thus Income kept her alive. So, at 11 years of age, distraught over her father's leaving, and lost without her mother's guiding hand, Ada had no choice but to take over as the youngest manager the shop had ever had. She would have to employ more help than her predecessors in order to ensure the shop ran as efficiently as it could, but she, along with the workers of the pet shop, managed to keep the business alive. In this, the group of them became almost like family; These were grown men and women whom she was working with, and they sympathized, and even respected the girl's situation, often taking her out to lunch, inviting her to their homes for dinner, and even buying her gifts... despite the fact that she was the one signing off on their paychecks.
However, Ada was still orphaned, and that in itself brought up complications. She had to lie in order to stay enrolled in school, have forged paperwork done in order to imply adoption, and have one family of workers literally vouch for her in order to ensure she could continue to live the way she did. Even through all of that, Ada never took the 'easy' way out of any of it; She ran the shop alone, with some assistance in situations she had no knowledge of. It wasn't something she wanted to do. It was something she had to. Eventually, the rough areas began to patch up. Ada made her way through childhood, surprisingly. She grew up a hard worker, but extremely gentle and kind towards others, having known hardships of her own. To this day, she still runs the pet shop, and works with most of the people who she grew up with. Her most recent projects, outside of school and work, have revolved around learning a little bit of self-defense; As a hobby, the girl engages in martial arts practices, for the exercise.
Combat
Strengths
Determination: Ada sees things through to the end. No matter how dark the situation, she remains optimistic and does whatever she can (and more) to ensure that things go well. As well as they can.
Dark Ada: There is a far more dangerous edge of Ada that lies beneath the surface of the sweet, cute young girl that everyone knows and loves. Though not exactly 'evil' in ideal, this darker part of Ada's split identity has no concern for the safety of others in the commonplace, and little compassion for those who Ada would normally care miles for. This deviation in her personality takes life by the balls and crushes it. Guns, fighting, and a depraved need to 'hurt' people who don't see eye to eye with her make this side of Ada a viable threat to those around her.
Wealth advantage: Ada runs her own store, and does so successfully. The common household pet has become more common in recent years, and the pet shop has profited because of it; Thus, Ada had the extra 'funds' to play around with, if she so chooses.
Weaknesses
Mental see-saw: Despite what anyone might think, Ada is by no means mentally stable. The event that transpired between her father and herself sometime ago left a large scar on the girl's mind, and anything that even slightly reminds her of it has the probability of sending her over the edge into a mental relapse.
