Appearance

The first thing people think when they see him is "when did the bad guys get this hot?" Acer is averagely tall, roughly six feet or a little taller. His hair is jet black, short, spiky and perpetually disorganized. His eyes are a strange, unsettling hue of gold, radiating intelligence and possessing a piercing gaze that seems to drill into the soul. His lips are usually curled into a wide cheeky grin, and coupled with the constant slight furrow on his brow, it kind of gives him an arrogant look. The remnants of Acer's mask have descended towards his neck to form a sort of bony necklace.

Acer is quite slim, but has a well toned body with chiseled out muscles. He wears the Arrancar uniform alright, but the front of his vest is open, displaying his Hollow hole for the world to see (which is located on his upper sternum), as well as his well built chest muscles. His jacket resembles a trench coat, although with black lines running designs on it, as is characteristic of the Arrancar uniform. He wears a long strap of cloth that resembles a windbreaker around his neck, but doesn't wrap it around. Its ends fall to the front of his body, ending at his thighs. Unlike most Arrancar, he favors normal pants rather than hakamas, with normal formal looking shoes, all white in color.

On his back, Acer carries a large, long, thin skeleton key, which is as black as the belt around his waist. And that key is actually his zanpakuto.

Personality

'Strange' marks this very ancient personality, who somehow seems to be a very part of the present. He has even adapted to using mordern slangs, and knows a lot about the current human world.

Acer is a queer individual alright, capable of quickly switching between happy and upbeat to sour and aggressive. He's often smiling his cheeky smile, so we can assume he is mostly happy, although he does have a temper. He speaks in an informal fashion, referring to everyone, even his superiors, with what he calls a "term of endearment", but is little more than a nickname. He appears to take everything with levity, although that is really not the case.

Acer is an academic, and that's where his madness actually starts to show (perhaps it's over intelligence, but it always passes off as madness). He usually throws a philosophical question at whoever is accompanying him, and often, it has nothing to do with the actual subject they were discussing. Ignoring him will make him belligerent, or in cases of a superior, difficult to manage. When it comes to knowledge, however, Acer can pause in the middle of a meal on sighting a rare book, and that is bye-bye to the food he was eating. He has the dream to build a massive library, and as a result, is interested in chronicles, history, records, and any other book with valuable information, regardless of the topic. But perhaps this also has something to do with his missing memories...

Cogito ergo sum. Acer loves to approach everything from an academic point of view, and must have a logical explanation for everything.

In combat, Acer is always very distracted. He can stick to a fight till the end, but can start riddling his enemy with his questions, the same way he would an ally. If the enemy obliges him, he loses interest in the fight and is willing to talk. That doesn't make him a pacifist, however. He relishes battle, as he claims it is the only thing that makes him feel alive, though as a recurring habit he tends to forget his opponents name, or attempt to walk away from the battle as if it's over. He is rather honorable, and does not believe in back stabbing an opponent.

He actually respects his superiors, but it rarely shows in his speech. It is seen in his actions, instead. Acer does not take kindly to insults, but rarely ever does anything rash without thinking it through. He hates to concede defeat, and dislikes to ask for help when fighting, even when outnumbered. One last thing: the more excited he gets, the more expletives are likely to flow.

There are three things that actually get him wild with excitement: archives, architecture, battle.

History

Acer Venator Secratio, against all popular belief, is about as old as the very first Arrancar empire, La Imperio del Hueco. However, he can only recall little of anything concerning those times, save the countless battles he fought to stay alive in the deserts of Las Noches. Here is his story:

An Arrancar, unlike a Shinigami or human, does not age. Acer Venator Secratio died, as a human, at the age of eighteen, during a farming accident that had him pitched off a high cliff (at this time, ancient civilizations like Sumeria were yet to be formed; people were still living in little nomadic groups) and his spirit wasted little time transforming into a Hollow and 'descending' into Hueco Mundo.

In Hueco Mundo, Acer became very powerful, learning how to quickly dispatch enemies and feed on their spirit-imbued remains. He soon, as expected, gained a sentience of his own, and he eventually could boast of being one of the very first Arrancar to walk the sands of Hueco Mundo.

From the get go, Acer was a very intelligent mind, easily able to adapt and learn. He was among the first architects to create devices that would exploit Hueco Mundo's natural resources, creations that would destroy its lush vegetation and transform it into a barren wasteland. Being very old and powerful, he later became one of the generals of the Legion Blanca, and many of his campaigns were successful. He was a key player in the masked war, but was gravely injured with his zanpakuto destroyed, as at the time the Leviathan was sealed by Gotei 7's captains, at the cost of their lives. The wounds were so grievous that he took to resting in a crude crypt built for him, hidden deep beneath the sands of Hueco Mundo. He fell into a form of induced hibernation, so as to cut down on using Reiryoku. That way, almost all his power could be channeled into healing himself. He didn't know how long he slept.

When he did awake later, he found himself in a different world. His beloved king had been slain ages ago, the castes had fallen into clashes and wars, and the Imperial City had been devastated. The good news was that he awoke after these events. He discovered that a new king has just risen to power, Yevele, he was called. Acer was interested in joining the ranks of this new army, and even becoming one of its generals, but he was denied, as the loss of his only key to resurrecion had placed a major plunge on his power level. Dejected, Acer had to work among the caste of builders. It was not long that his intelligence caught the eye of the higher ups, and once again, Acer Secratio became a chief architect in Hueco Mundo's 'refortification'. He gained a high status in Las Noches as a result of this, but could never match up to the military leaders (whom he detested with all his might, for looking down on him). In Yevele's kingdom, he was simply known as "El Arquitecto."

Then a ray of hope flashed along his path. Yevele had declared war on Soul Society, and somehow had found some captains of Seireitei and turned them to his side. The Centurions, as they were called, used some experiment to enhance their powers, something that although Acer was not party to, he witnessed. When the Centurions led the assault on Soul Society, Acer stole into the experimental chambers and eloped with some of the art relics that were responsible for this 'evolution'. He returned to his crypt and sealed himself in, determined to either resurrect his powers, or die in the process. Deep within the earth, he fell into another slumber, his reiatsu dropping to an untraceable level. This was his saving grace, as high up above, the Shinigami slaughtered his kin, down to the last one.

When he awoke again, the world had changed, again. As had he. He discovered that there had been a Third Masked War, and Hueco Mundo had been destroyed once again. Acer Venator Secratio found out that the Hollow World once again was teeming with Hollows, as a result of some massacre that the Mortal Coil was engaged in. And he now had a zanpakuto... although it seemed incomplete at the moment. A long block of stone that pulsated with his own reiatsu lay at his side, with the same connection that one would feel with his own zanpakuto. Overjoyed, Acer took the slab and ventured out of his lair to take control of the Hollow World.

He was almost killed. To his horror, he saw that the experiments he had used on himself had drawn his reiatsu down to just about the size of a very weak Fullbringer, making him an easy prey. Acer fled to hide once more, to learn more about the changes that had occurred within and around him.

Perhaps as a side-effect of the experiment, Acer could not recall a lot of events, having large blotches of empty space in his memory. Striving to remember was as useful as packing water in a wicker basket. After a very long time of watching and waiting, Acer began to build up his power-level, from the bare scratch. It was at this time he renamed himself, using the most widely spoken language then as a template, since he had long forgotten his old name (that's why his name sounds more Latin than Spanish).

As his reiatsu arduously increased, he noticed that his stone slab zanpakuto was evolving. As his powers climbed, it began to crack, slowly attempting to reveal its prize to him. Pleased with this development, but afraid that impatience might cost him his new zanpakuto, Acer decided to wait for it to break open by itself. It did, and he was disappointed. For what he expected to see was some sort of weapon that would suit him, preferrably a sword or a spear. Instead, all he saw was a large, thin, black key. Having no better alternatives, he had to accept it, with the hopes that the resurrecion it would give him would be useful. He made a lot of trips to the human world, preferring to attack weaker humans rather than Hollows, and at the same time, learn a lot about the world he invaded.

As at the time of this storyline, Acer Venator Secratio has at least risen his spiritual pressure to an average degree, while he had watched quietly all the proceedings that have occurred in both the Mortal Coil and Hueco Mundo. As a result of the time he has spent on Earth, many of man's mannerisms have rubbed off on him, including his mode of speech and dressing. After all, Acer believes that to stay abreast of information and technology, which is the greatest quest, one must flow with it. Because of his behavior, many mistake him to be a very young Arrancar, a mistake he hardly refutes, as he himself cannot recall his earlier life.

All he knows is that he is much, much older than people think, and he seeks to fill up the spaces in his history. Perhaps referring back to ancient archives and sites would remind him of his ancient existence...

Combat

Strengths

Perhaps Acer's greatest asset is his mind. intelligent and analytical, he is more likely to spot patterns and weak points in a battle ahead of others.

His vast knowledge is also useful when facing against an opponent. He always has something to say about an opponent at first glance, and is usually about 70% accurate, thanks to all the years he has spent fighting and learning in different terrains.

Weaknesses

It may not look like much of a disadvantage, but while everyone carries dangerous weapons as their zanpakuto, Acer carries a bloody key! Keys don't cut people's heads off in one stroke, or shatter bones.

Acer is annoyingly honorable. Even if he is fighting an entire Division, he will not ask for help, and will take offense should anyone try to help him. If he has a chance to slice his opponent from behind with a stealth attack, he would rather opt for shouting at the top of his voice, berating the enemy for being as perceptive as a drugged blind ostrich. He loses a lot of opportunity that way.
